I know Occult Acumen isn't the best trait drk COULD have gotton but... we have it, and quite frankly i've been enjoying it.
Took me litrally just last nite to get my 5/5 kindred crests mainly cause ive only been able to get 30mins to 1 hour a day of play time since the update. Spent the hole time soloing DC mobs in vally or uhoh and in halvung. But The real fun was soloing them fugly mobs the blms solo. I was running round drk/sam with refresh signet, vampire cloak and parade gorget and some juice. Kite/nuke/bind/kite/stun/nuke/sleep/nuke etc. (yeah no ares and with af3 HAHAHA glad i never did go after them) Anyways... I was getting all kinds of extra TP Drain2=3 drain=2 tier3 earth/water(though horribe dmg) given 9tp each. Plus Bio2 gave3 tp. So i just started off with a meditate=60tp dropped a massive 75dmglol stone3 with third eye and Fastpants ran a little dropped a bio3>>> bind dropped some more nukes including drain. saved drain2 and dreadspikes til i built enough tp to hit100. I spiked up after a massive drain2 than guillotine.
I was really enjoying myself knowing that i could easyily just use this strat alot more effectivly than before I has Occult Acumen. Even better I could /rdm(for refresh,cure,SS.etc) or /blm (for more nuke options with all the Ga spells. with out worring bout building tp with meditate. I've solo'd quit a few NM by kite/drain/bio spam with fastpants at 75 prior Occult Acumen was even available. No knowing I have a mini invsible with dreadspikes and have some tp saved up from Occult Acumen I could really pull off some really fun stuff.
Ive always wanted to solo Genbu on my drk. My biggest excuse was i didnt want to use that black set body with refresh on it cause i didn't own ares. Than It was No time cause of my job(being a cop) with no free time anymore. But now the lvl increase would make our nukes actually hurt him. our bind hopefully stick. and dreadspike(mini invincible) combo'd with Occult Acumen and guillotine seems like TONs of FUN. and yes i know he has enwater but i like pain what can i say im a drk.
And though we don't get the alot of cool abilities like war/sam gets as main job im still pretty happy with what SE has given us.
Plus now that I think of it. My drk Always die's on NMs like Dark Ixion. I know my shell mates master'd how to melee on him and WS on him. I just dont get enough pratice.
I dont mind at all sitting up top with all the support and dropping resisted nukes on him long as i get the tp and skill ups. And can still run drop down and pull off as good of a epeen Dmg as any one else.
I'm a fan of Occult Acumen. It has its uses ands lets me solo/play the way I want too. I say embrace the change/direction SE is going. Not like we K.club/m.kris AV anymore with souleater. /Stares at Emi Apoc Drks with your shinny gold apocs and your souleater spams on AV.......
