The guy was trying to advance things, and used his daughter for it. It seems like he made a pretty big step but then he got shut down. Stifling scientific advancement is the only sad thing I see in that story. Behave Grumpy.

The sadness level of the chimera comes when you realize that he took two innocent creatures and created an abomination for his own gains. Which is also why transmutation dealing with humans as ingredients is highly illegal (Unless youre a monster posing as the leader of an entirely fascist stratocracy). |
