I was playing around trying to get the most MP that I can out of sublimation and I found that whether or not I have the Bloodgem earring equipped, I still get the same MP return (528). Shouldn't the Bloodgem Earring (HP+35) increase my sublimation return by 8? Is there a cap to how much MP can be returned by sublimation?

I think it's based off your base HP rather than base+buffs. Convert is the exact opposite. You're better off stacking "enhance sublimation" gear, max sublimation merits, and hp merits if you're srs about it.

It's based off your current HP (per tic), if your macro swaps are reducing your HP, then you're losing the effect.

No gear swaps are taking place, I'm doing this in town and not changing gear throughout. I have 5 sublimation merits.

Total HP w/o Bloodgem earring: 1880, sublimation returns 528
Total HP w/ Bloodgem earring: 1915, sublimation returns 528

This is not the case for sublimation. I can easily take off Torrid Gages (HP+100), Meridian Ring and Bomb Queen Ring (HP+165) and see reduced returns on sublimation.

hmmm.

1880*25%=470+50(merits)= 520
1915*25%=478,75+50= 528,75 (rounded down to 528)

Are you sure that you are getting 528 off the first set?
Make sure that you don't have any convert hp>mp item messing you as they don't count for sublimation

Sublimation's charge rate increases by 1 every 10 levels. So

35 -> 2HP to 2MP
45 -> 2HP to 3MP
55 -> 2HP to 4MP
65 -> 2HP to 5MP
75 -> 2HP to 6MP
85 -> 2HP to 7MP
95 -> 2HP to 8MP

Then with gear (@95 for this example), it makes it so

AF hat: 3HP to 9MP
AF hat+Relic Body: 4HP to 10MP
AFhat+Relic Body+Empy Earring: 5HP to 11MP
AFhat+Relic Body+Empy Earring+Lv89 club: 6HP to 12MP

Yes, I'm sure what I'm getting back, I've tried it multiple times.

I don't have any convert HP > MP gear or HP% items on. All my gear is either HP+, enhances sublimation, or irrelevant.

The extra 8 is coming from the activation of Sublimation. I used all my MP, converted, activated sublimation so that it would immediately complete, and when I was able to use it again, I recovered 8 MP.

It looks like there is a hard cap on the amount of MP returned by sublimation? I'm testing naked currently and slowly adding gear to see if there are any trends.

Yeah, I was just answering his question. In regards to your question, I do think that Sublimation does have a cap. Not 100% sure on that, but seems more than likely.

Well, the rate at which it charges has everything to do with whether its competitive with refresh. Seems as if it pretty handily beats refresh(1), even when accounting for MP used to circumvent the HP loss. Neat.

As a hume I get roughly 450mp back with my sublimation, takes approximately 1:50 to fill, quicker if I ever finish my +2 body. D:

I'm actually kind of curious now as to some of these builds that people have. Do you go with straight up HP gear or are you mixing in some refresh as well?

Ah, I see. I didn't see his post. I'm gonna have to do more testing.

Naked, putting on only AF Hat, Relic Body, and Emp Earring (sublimation +3), <50% HP activating sublimation yields 11 MP, which is right in line w/ the 2 -> 8 MP base.

As far as equipment goes, the only potentially worthwhile trades are AF2+2 body, AF3 earring, and, pending the presence of PDT toggles in your idle sets, AF3 club.

Granted, min-maxing this sort of thing can be a bit of a hassle. While it does pretty easily surpass refresh(1), you could just as easily wear maximum refresh equipment and skip the JA altogether for minimal loss in MP and a hefty gain in notpayingattention.

Sch/rdm 99 naked, 1275 hp.

I got 368 mp back, tested twice.
1275/4=318.75+50=368,75, rounded down to 368.

So in this case it didn't chiped, though, i tested before that doing it with <50% hp so it wears instantly and it gave me 8mp too.

Oh, sorry I wasn't clear about the edit. I thought the equation didn't add up because I had +HP% gear on. +HP% gear actually doesn't affect sublimation.

Tried again, this time Sch/rdm with only bloodgem earring equiped.
Max hp 1310. Mp returned 384. Tested twice again.

1310/4=327.5+50=377.50

With this setup it gives me 6,5mp more than what it should :S

I was just going to ask someone else to try this w/ bloodgem earring. So, you're seeing inconsistent results by just adding that one piece into your gearset, too?

Yes, there is something strange there.
Naked i was exactly getting max hp/4+50 from merits, rounded down.
Naked+bloodgem earring i'm getting max hp/4+50+6,5.
Idk why its giving me those 6,5 extra mp.
Already done it 5 times and its giving me the same every time.

Hmm, getting the same weird results as you guys.

Without Bloodgem Earring
HP: 1945
Sublimation: 536
1945/4 = 486 + 50 = 536

With Bloodgem Earring
HP: 1980
Sublimation: 552
1980/4 = 495 + 50 = 545
Getting 7 more MP out of no where...

Sch/rdm naked but meridian ring.
Max hp 1365. Mp returned 392.
1365/4+50=391.25
This time it was rounded up to 392, though the decimal number is inferior than before (368.75 rounded down, when completely naked)

Sch/rdm, Meridian ring + bloodgem earring.
Max hp 1400. Mp returned 400.
1400/4+50=400.
This time it was exactly what it should be, so i'm guessing that isn't a bug from the earring but that the formula for max mp stored isn't exactly 25% of mp.

Maybe it's a x/1024 crap or something like what it happens with haste.
Idk if someone good at maths could do something with the numbers we got to calculate it.

Edit:
Sch/rdm, Meridian ring + bloodgem earring + BQ ring.
Max hp 1475. Mp returned 424.
1475/4+50=418.75.

So another 5.25 extra mp here out of no where.
