Proof that music festivals are a boys club.
so, this article caught my attention. i thought it was going to be something about women being abused at festivals. i went to hang out fest with a girl i was dating and basically had to carry her around. anytime you have massive groups of people who are *** up, you're going to run into douchebags trying to get at a chicks who are not functioning 100%. however, this was about the lack of female performers. this triggered me a bit. the articles big point is 50% of festival goers are females so the show should be represent that portion of the audience. that seems pretty sexist to me. if a consistent high number of women are going to these festivals, they are using their money and attendance as their voice to say this is something they want to see. there are not a lot of well known female dj's or festival type performers. who would they book? i think this whole piece is a little condescending towards women. as if they can't enjoy a show performed by a man or there is something wrong with them enjoying that.

Also, I don't buy "there are not a lot of well known female dj's or festival type performers" for a second. i still feel the author is trying to make something out of nothing. there are plenty of female dj's, but even organizers have to go with what people want to see. i've gone to a ton of festivals through my early and mid 20's. i never heard any female complain about the lack of chicks on stage. the article even quotes one of the organizer talking about how the biggest female music stars are all in pop music and choose not to do festivals because it's not the type of crowd they attract. if you have an electronic festival, most of the dj's are going to be dudes. it's a male dominated profession. most chicks go to festivals for the same reason as guys, to dance and get *** up with friends and strangers. if there isn't enough interest or enough of a following to justify inviting a particular performer it shouldn't matter if they are male or female. this article makes it seem like there is something wrong with women going to watch men perform. the biggest thing though is it feels like an attempt on what they feel is an easy target. if you're going to criticize something like this, suggest a fix, an alternative, or at least list some performers who should be at these festivals. instead it's placing an issue the author is creating on the shoulders of festival organizers. just feels like flimsy journalism.

Got a text this morning to see if I had a shop vac because the entire office and lobby were flooded from a leaking urinal. Good news, only the front half of my office was flooded. So now I sit here with a giant fan blowing on my legs, listening to the sounds of other people vacuuming up water and fans blowing out the dampness. Typical Thursday.

about 3 months ago, a pipe ruptured in the bathroom near the main office.
male/female restrooms had to be reconstructed (each occupies 1 person at a time) and all the carpet there had to be removed, and this happened over a weekend, prolly a sunday, so no one was here. lol I do remember seeing fans all over the place at full power.
