The Best Documentary Series On US History

Shouldn't even try to talk about US History without having watched these. Get enlightened and open your eyes.


Oliver Stone's "An Untold History of the United States of America"

Ew 1 hour.

1 hour and a ten episode series. I remember watching it every Sunday while it was on Showtime.


It is a really good documentary series, but Stone's communist sympathizer comes out in full force, especially in the episodes between WWII and Kennedy.

The most important takeaways from the series is how the United States uses "Meek Aggression" to coerce nations, NATO is the biggest tool in the toolbox there, and how we essentially edit history, which explains why so many Americans are in the dark as to why places like Chile hate us so much.

Only the first part of 1 chapter is 1 hour. If you want oversimplification watch the mainstream lolnews.

The fact that it's made by Oliver Stone of all people leaves me skeptical, but I'll check it out. Looks interesting nonetheless.

If you've seen the Oliver stone series, then I'll add this for you, if you haven't seen it.

Its a purely academic piece with a lot of quoting and reading from different official recalls of history, but it is indeed enlightening - especially when it gets to FDR/Truman/Nixon.

Shouldn't this be in culture and media?

Forming a political opinon or stance is subject to what one knows. A take on the US's Politics and foreign policy is political.

I think a more objective (not ideological) piece would make a better choice. But certainly some interesting points are raised in the Oliver Stone film (though I disagree with 80+% of it).

Had to rate this up just so I could have the satisfaction of rating it down. America: The Story of Us is the most flagrant example of whitewashed history I can think of.

About the only thing worse is The Men Who Built America but I classify that as Pornography, not a documentary. Libertarian Pornography to be exact.
