Our database server is experiencing what could be a faulty disk on its RAID array. Our host is going to bring it down for diagnostics and hopefully fix the issue.
The maintenance is scheduled for Jan 8th, between 1-4AM CST.
I will post on Facebook or Twitter if it's down past this period.

I investigated a slow down last night and while I was sifting through logs I found several errors about bad disk blocks and remapping. Also notices about the raid having to rebuild/recovery several times throughout the day. I'm not a expert on RAID, but I would guess this could interfere with disk I/O that MySQL needs. And the recent slows downs aren't related to the daily backup (lockup) that happens around 5AM CST. That is expected and something that will always occur until I get a replica.

Oddly enough I've come accustomed to the 5AM lockup, fixing it now, it's going to be weird to me. I guess I'm weird then :<.

New disk was installed and the array is being rebuilt, intermittent slowdown is expected in the next couple hours.... and I'm going to bed.
