I am 100+3 Goldsmith and want to turn your Flame Geodes into Flame Gems or Pyrosoul Rings. Here is the deal... you give me your flame geodes, I attempt to craft them into Flmae Gems. If I am successful with a HQ3 I will either sell the Gem (Currently selling for 3M) and split the profits 50/50 with you OR I will craft you a Pyrosoul Ring at 1/2 the going price (currently 3.4M). Either way upon each successful synth you will make decent gil. If I fail to HQ3 the synth you get to keep the results all though that is worth allot les the then geode itself. Send me a /tell in game if you are interested. This is legit, not a scam in anyway. Just a good way for all of us to make some gil.

How so? Risking a 50-60k item at a shot for 1.5M with no crafting experience of your own needed.... where can you beat that?

Because the prices of those gems/rings are largely defined by the HQ3 rate on the flame geode synth which is 2.9%, so on average they would always be better off just selling their geodes at that risk/reward threshold since you're going to HQ3 1/33, not 1/26 (the break-even point for your client).

I will not try to hide the fact the the chance on a HQ3 is low. However, your alternatives are to spend 50M+ leveling Goldsmithing to 100+ and try yourself or just settle with making 50-60k... this gives you an opportunity to make some serrious gil. I'm sure some will not want to risk it, but that's the beauty of capitlaizm. You gotta spend money to make money.

yes, so what this deal amounts to is an extraordinarily large tax on people using your goldsmithing services. Such a tax is standard operating procedure since, as you pointed out, you should be rewarded for your hard work leveling the craft, but the question here is about how high the tax is, not whether or not taxing is reasonable.

It's common for people to charge 10% or even 20% HQ fees on some items where the crafter is taking no risk, but you're effectively charging 50%. It's a terrible deal for your clients. And sure, it's individual choice whether or not to take up the offer, but they should realize that they're basically throwing gil into slot machines if they do this.

It's not a tax. It's a gamble.

I am 100+3 Subligarsmith and I want to turn your subligars into gold subligars. If I am successful you get the joy of seeing me wear your subligar, if I'm not successful you get nothing.

Everyone's a winner.
