I've been taking a hiatus from the game(teaching+lab work+finals has kept me busy) for the last 3 months and I peeped at some of the new salvage gear and was initially unimpressed for the most part. Many of the pieces had potential (+40 attack on the head) but noticed none of them had the STP+Haste combo that Phorcys had. Was just wondering if there are any pieces out now that are better for TP/WSing than previous high end gear, perhaps by shifting around some haste/stp pieces, we can incorporate some of the Ares+1/Neo-Ares into our sets? I haven't seen any discussion about it, so I want to see what the verdict it.

I can't see how any Ares+1 or Ker can be best in slot atm. They need to allow Ares+2 and Ker+1/2 upgrades for more plans or whatever cus almost the entire 50 pieces are lame atm

You are absolutely correct. I usually catch that. My apologies. Though it may still have been relevant, I deleted the post as my thinking was in terms of Salvage II in general.

Assuming top-tier gear already, there's only about 2 usable DD pieces.

Ares' hands+1 are a minor upgrade over brego. More STR/atk. Although -1 acc.

And Ker's flanchard is a surprisingly good jump piece. They're actually a DPS gain over lancer legs based on spreadsheet results.(assuming my sets, of course.)

Ares head/legs+1 suffer from a lack of stp, compared to phorcys(and -1% haste on the head.) Making them hard to work into a 5-hit build. I played around with various builds in the spreadsheet, but couldn't find a setup that made them worth using.

The body makes a good idle piece. But the regen/refresh are only 2/tick. Making it inferior to Kumarbi's as a regen piece, and only equal to twilight for refresh. And twilight is eternally in your inv anyway, so it won't even save space. Only viable for DD purposes as a /mage TP body. For ws it's just a gimp phorcys korazin. It would be the strongest normal jump body... if you were focusing purely on per hit dmg, rather than TP gain. Oh, it does make a good HP+ body for healing breath trigger though. Most of Ares+1 does(depending on race.)

Overall, very disappointing gear for DRG. Although that assessment may change slightly depending on if the Ares set bonus is tiered, and it's potency. But it's to early for anyone to have more than one piece. And these aren't available on the test server yet.

Good, because I honestly hate salvage and doing Assaults for AP. I don't see many good pieces for BLU either except for min-maxing Requiescat/Sanguine or BLU nukes.

While I hate the AP and and 3 man requirement, I've actually been enjoying neo-salvage. No cells, hell yes. <,<

I've been dualboxing runs as DRG/SAM and WHM/THF(with some help with entry). Despite the relative uselessness of most of it, I think I'll make then store most of it just for something to do. Not bad alexandrite per run either.

the only thing i can see at this point saving ares's for most of the jobs would be partial set bonus with impressive returns.

What if it's 3% DA for 2 pieces, 6 for 3 etc?

It's proven. Someone got Usukane +1 body and boots and tested reraise with it.

Actually, now that I think about it, if it increases linearly like 3, 6, 9, 12, then it'll make some sense with the Usukane since that'd be capped gear haste exactly.
