I logged on this morning, and noticed every single world is in the red... It's gonna be interesting to watch how far it drops in the coming days.
Behemoth Hide has already dropped to 1/4 of what it was a month ago, and Bonanza just started releasing prizes. It's gonna be down to 50k soon.

Indeed it is. But I doubt it's going to drop down to 50k or anything--once the Mog Bonanza B.Hides are out of circulation--turned into Dusk Gloves or whatnot--they'll jump back to their original cost. It's just wiser to SAVE the hides until this craze is over, anyways; most of us pretty much predicted the severe undercutting.
deflation only begins on those rank 4 items people though "OMG I CAN MAKE MAJOR GIL ON THIS I NEEDS TO SELL IT NAO!" everything else is gonna stay about the same. and havent you noticed, most of the servers have been in red for a long time.
I wonder how much of the drop is based on Behemoth hide? I have to assume it's in the index and probably a big part of the perceived deflation. My guess was that behemoth hide would drop in price significantly, but most other prices would go up modestly for a couple months because of all the new money added to the game.
I would be quite surprised if there was not short term inflation in many high priced items due to this lottery. Not the items made with a lot of the L 4 prize items, but things like the Hagun, Pcc, Leaping Boots, etc.
Well, if you JUST look at Behemoth Hide itself, on Raggy it was a quick drop from 500k -> 200k; but then we're also talking about the things Leathercrafters can MAKE with B. Hide, such as the infamous Dusk Gloves, which I THINK went down 300k -> 200k. so, that's about 400k lost per transaction. = /

Sorry to ask that here; How is that index calculated? Is there an explanation somewhere? I looked but could not find anything.
The exact way it's calculated is a company secret but iirc they had some topics on the index on the FAQ page.

Hide prices have acted on other servers the last few days, but I was very surprised to see the the prices on Midgardsormr bounced back to nearly the same price [300-350k] after only a couple days of frantic rushing dropped the price to 100k.
So long as the majority of panicky idiots have already lost their B. Hides in the rush there may not be such a pronounced crash in hide prices that many people [including myself] had predicted. Prices were 600k before bonanza was announced, the day the prizes were released it was about 300k, prices dropped for a day or two, then went back to 300k.
It's remained surprisingly stable for a rapid influx of hides being put on the AH.

It comes and goes. Used to be funny! Now it's so overused I'm not sure if someone still finds it funny and it's just me who doesn't get it anymore, or if simply nobody is having fun and that's it, period.
