Depends, if you don't gear for quick draw it's terrible on HNMs. Show up /blm with MAB and AGI gear and you can pump out as much as 575 or so on an unresisted shot with the right buffs.

I was bored so I through together the best possible Quick Draw set.

150-350+ depending on resists and other things.

Best I've done is about 425 to Kirin with a Wind Shot

And...of course...

If you like a job, level it. BRD+COR parties are better than BRDx2 (in any situation), and they can do some pretty heafty damage when geared right. I haven't leveled COR myself yet, but it's something I'm looking into doing in the near future.

No you get brd brd and then get the Cor as a DD spot(birds onry) then get War, Sam or what not and a rdm and get ready for some wicked good times..4 songs 2 rolls = A good time

Poor Birds don't even know what hit them.

Get a BRD with a lamiabane, camp on the top spot and have them pull from the bottom. It's only a problem if there's a fast-killing bottom party. Or kill wivres.. (ew).

It worked well for us and we held chain to the mid 200's..we had middle bird camp so we pulled from bottom and killed Wivre's when we had to and held chain just fine..I honestly don't remember if we pulled any Mamool ja down or not.

COR is great fun, but there's a lot of stigma out there that COR = BRD. Don't believe it. QD is nice but it shouldn't be your main source of damage. Your gun should be your staple. Let your rolls and QD supplement the pt and let your gun prove you're not a BRD.

Cor is a very enjoyable job to play, I use mine as my main Merit job and never have to wait long for a merit invite. I really enjoy cor in meripo rolls are easy to keep up cause they last 5mins, this allows you to concentrate on helping to sleep adds /target <stnpc> macro for your light shot and DD like mad. If you have Detonator unlocked you can make light whenever you see frag /joy and you are more than capable at keeping the chain up. If you wana have tons of fun while playing a "support job" Cor is for you. Yes every once in a while may have to do the cor/whm thing but i have found this to be rare and havent even made macros for it.

COR's fun, but endgame, I find it's more worthwhile to invest in support and utility than a quick draw set like some Corsairs do. I mean, somehow I doubt the 350-500 Water shot on Tiamat is worth letting a tank die, so I'd rather sub WHM and help on that front. For the Support Tract, after you get 75, focus all resources into getting Snake eye to Lv.5, this effectively doubles your chances of an XI. Merited properly, you can find yourself with a little more wiggle room on rolls. 80% of the time my Groups have Either Lucky Roll, X or XI on (Or IX if that's not an unlucky). Never settling for mediocre rolls can really be to your benefit in the long run. They may laugh at your busts, but the Black Mages will always come to you first.

For Damage, as I said earlier, I don't feel COR's damage justifies investing the huge sum of money it takes (endgame) to make a passable quick draw every minute. But on their own, or in Exp Parties, a well-equipped Corsair is a force to be reckoned with. In Groups, /RNG is your friend. On your own, obviously /Ninja is gonna be a little more useful for not dying. A general rule of thumb for Corsair solo. If you can Sleep it with light shot (Over 50% success) you can solo it. If you're really interested in Quick Draw damage, you'd best ask someone else, my natural socialist nature means that I will always attempt to help the group before my own ego, I see some people have already posted a few builds on Quick draw, it'll be up to you to decide if the tradeoff between support and "Damage" is worth it.

Oh, and on a side note, Leaden Salute is like the coolest weapon skill ever, so you have that to look forward to. (It's not very good, but still cool)

It can get pretty expensive if you want to take full advantage of it, and some of the dice get pretty expensive after 40. It's a pretty fun job though, especially if you're a Tarutaru (They have a rather cute shooting animation) .

It can be more challenging then BRD just for the fact that you have to watch your rolls. There's a 1 minute recast and that annoying 'That roll is already active' message.

Cor is my main job and I have invested a lot of time and gil into it. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I havent come across another job in the game that I have as much fun with. Why? Because it is so multifunctional.

Merits: I sub nin in merit groups only because I party with my boyfriend's drg/whm and no other mage (helps him keep us all alive obviously), however if I merit with any other groups I go /rng or /whm if the party feels it is neccessary. DD rolls and brd songs = crazy good Slug Shots and nice chains. ^^

Endgame: Einherjar is the only event I am ever required to come /whm in the first 3 tiers. I come Cor/rng to Odin for more ranged damage. Every other event I participate in I sub dd because we often low man and the added damage is nice. However.. as I stated I have put a lot of money and time into this job so I can say it is alright to come dd in those situations. I feel if I wasnt as well geared as I am I would come mage subs to these events. I do not do HNMs so I cannot comment on how well I would work out there but I would assume I would sub blm or whm in those situations.

The most important pieces of gear a cor should have are:

An excellent gun. Damage not only affects your shots and weaponskills but also your QD damage, however if you have to sacrifice some damage for acc that is acceptable because.. what good is a high damage weapon if you cant hit? ^^

Ranged Acc is a no brainer :)

A decent MP set for the times you are asked to come whm. It will happen.. dont complain about it because the sub does help a lot in certain situations and frankly it makes me sad when I see others upset they have to sub whm. The job as I said is multifunctional so you gotta play it as such. lol

Acc and/or haste is important for tp gain in merit groups. You can shoot for tp but I've found that the mobs die way too fast in a merit party for me to gain efficient tp that way.

QD sets are important for Endgame but I also find I really enjoy the damage that comes out of it. 380+ QDs and 1000+ Leaden Salutes are pretty spiffy! Its just fun and fun is the point of playing a job first and foremost.

Glad to see you are considering the job. I love it and I'm always happy to hear of new people working on it. I feel like its one of the most overlooked jobs in the game because people tie it to brd, assuming it is nothing but buffing. But we all know that's not how it goes. :D Have fun and watch those busts! ;)
