Keep Disconnecting

Heya. Its been about 1 1/2 years since i last played and now all of a sudden i cant seem to stay loged on. On my laptop i finally got the newer patches downloading after losing connection about every 10 min. On my PC which have gotten a new HD since last i played its impossible to get the download complete. So i loged on with my laptop, and whats happening is i d/c every 10 min or so. Over and over again, whats going on? I had my fair share of DC sure, its FFXI after all, but never this bad, on both my computers. Everything else works as normal, so its not the connection

Not your connection but keeps happening on both computers? Sure no anti virus freaking out? I had a problem similar to yours and it was my stupid anti virus. I run 4 chars on multiple computers 0 issues so it’s not the servers. What kind of OS are you on? Reset your router? The common sense questions (Also in world global option you took off the dc at 10 mins plus auto thing right?)

Ok. When i started googling the issue yesterday i found lots of resent forum posts, both here and other places dating back from late 2017 till just about 2 months ago where people seem to have the exact same problem, but noone have posted that this was fixed or how they fixed it.

It may very well be my connection, but in that case FFXI is the only thing having a issue with my connection. I run GW2, wow ect with no problem at all. I dont get kicked off discord or google chrome. Its only FFXI saying i been disconnected every 10 min or so. And ofcourse i have turned the settings to never log me out when afk, but in this case im not afk im activly killing mobs or running around.

Why i changed HD? I updated my computer since last i played, changed about everything. My laptop run windows 7 and my PC run windows 10. No anti virus exept for the build in. I have the best internet service available.

No why do you say it's impossible to get the download complete? Which I'm assuming you mean completed.

Dumb question but something I tested yesterday. What times are you noticing this issue time in the day etc, state and internet company.

You dc every 8mins Exactly each time?

Did you change router?

It sounds like the ports Ffxi uses to communicate are not open correctly. Try using the DMZ setting in your router settings and see if this fixes the issue

Try this, it fixed connection for an lsmate after he moved.

Load up Playonline (don't log in)

click the "Network Settings" button

then toggle "Connection check" to the other option -- best I can tell, disable is the default. So try enabling it.
