Fishing Large Fish Question
I'm 48 fishing +4 in armor, and fishing Giant Donko's for the fish ranking, and trying to fish a Monke-Onke for the level cap. How come about 60% of the time I lose my catch due to my lack of skill? The skill caps are 50 and 51 I believe, so I'm not *that* low. Its getting kind of ridiculuous.

hmm i dont kno wat wrong with ya but im fishin 44 n use to fish them for skill up/alchemy crafting. i use all the fishing gear + albatross ring for a while now. skipped for marlin for skill up + a chance on the chart.
wat kind of rod ur usin? The ones recommended for the fish on ffxiclopedia and kida's fishing guide. It cant be a rod problem.
im fishing 52+5, but have 2 friends that are at 100+5 with Ebisu rods, and even they sometimes loose their catch due to lack of skill, it pisses them off
It's just a message. Pretty much anytime you lose a catch when you get a message saying you don't think you can pull it in it will say lack of skill. I fish in +2 skill at 100 with ebisus and I still get that message rarely (mostly due to lag really) on trumpet shells lol
