TNG holds up much better than the original series in context of social lessons and the like. The original series is great for what it is and for its influence on what was to come...but it can be awfully kitschy and is just chocked full of 60s white Christian moralizing.

speaking of which, I was thinking during the walking dead the other night, the zombie apocalypse would only affect me until november or so. then all the zombies freeze, I get drunk, & wander around town bashing their frozen heads in with a baseball bat. bring it on.
