I have a habit of swinging by Sheetz, where they leave packets out for you to take for yourself, ordering a sandwich like I normally would for lunch, and then grabbing a handful of each condiment type. And if anyone looks at me funny I give them my best "WHO THE *** ARE YOU TO JUDGE ME!?" glare. It keeps my packet turnover rate in the "not expiring and making us sick" category. As for bursting, I keep them in a little gladware box that protects them from unnecessary squeezing. Edit: That's not to say that in a pinch I won't still do what you do. Buy the smallest bottle I can find at the store and pitch it when we're done. But mayo requires refrigeration after opening, so packets really are preferable.
