Does Our Military Know Something We Don't About Global Warming? - Forbes (Which no one will claim is a liberal source.)

Quote:
Every branch of the United States Military is worried about climate change. They have been since well before it became controversial....

At a time when Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bush 41, and even British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, called for binding international protocols to control greenhouse gas emissions, the U.S. Military was seriously studying global warming in order to determine what actions they could take to prepare for the change in threats that our military will face in the future....

This year, the Military Advisory Board came out with a new report, called National Security and the Accelerating Risks of Climate Change, that is a serious discussion about what the military sees as the threats and the actions to be taken to mitigate them.

“The potential security ramifications of global climate change should be serving as catalysts for cooperation and change. Instead, climate change impacts are already accelerating instability in vulnerable areas of the world and are serving as catalysts for conflict.”

well... weather does dictate a lot on the battlefield and a lot of research/development has to go into various weapon platforms so they can operate properly in the various conditions.

'cause the easiest way to subjugate billions of people would be to control the weather/climate!

-More Twisters tearing up your farmland and infrastructure
-Climate change causing crops to fail and your people to starve or have to rely on (evil)foreign imported food sources.
-All your coastal cities are sinking due to rising sea levels

it's super effective!

As long as people have been able to look at the natural world and figure out how things work, we've been trying to control those mechanisms. I'd be shocked if the military didn't recognize the power of controlling weather patterns and be investigating and testing ways to do it.

Economic sanctions? Drone strikes? Screw that, how does a 20 year blizzard sound?

Why does everyone think the US government is this all-powerful, all-knowing, hyper competent entity? Governments are bureacratic, and full of selfish, egotists that rarely ever work together. Do you really think the government secretly feigns incompetence when it comes to minor issues, but behind the scenes they're actually all working perfectly and flawlessly executing these major world-dominating super plots? They can barely maintain themselves let alone carry out extremely intricate plans. Imagine if the government did cause 9/11 and controls the weather, imagine some of the engineers/scientists/higher ups calling in or takig vacation or complaining about heir job as if it was a regular mundane job. Or imagine the people who actually carry out these superplots sitting in cubicles having typical office-dramma. "Man Sally from H.A.R.P department is pretty hot, but not as hot as Alice from the Media Brainwashing dept."

Reminds me of he southpark episode "The 9/11 conspiracy--was a government conspiracy" where Bush said he planted evidence on the interne to make it look like the gov might have been responsible to make them seem more competent, powerful cohesive and intelligent than they actually are.

I don't know how people get off thinking the gov has the power to cover up these huge inside jobs or aliens. There are several millions of people in the government, I would assume these top level ultra top secret plans would still have hundreds, if not thousands of people working to coordinate everything to cover all the tracks. Don't you think if a Lil Wayne album or Pamela Anderson's sex tapes can be leeked that so too can these, especially with the internet?

These things are leaked, which is why threads like this exist.
It's how much coverage on a broader scale and if people believe it's possible/true to whether or not it makes any impact in the light of day.
Unfortunately people are too blissfully ignorant enjoying the every day pleasures of life in the first world to give a crap. Sometimes even when it's so obvious it can't be explained. Ie; building 7 dropping at free fall from 1 damaged support.
If it doesn't affect my life......etc.

nah, the easiest way is "belief". just convince a few million idiots we are warming the earth and you control them, the things they do, the products they buy, the people they give power to, their hearts and minds.

no different than any religion.

Finally a thread that combines my two favorite things, the military and global warming.

What a great combination!

Some trends have slowed, yeah, but the whole "no warming for 20 years" is just a talking point based on a very narrow report on a few regions on the USA. Global temperatures continue to rise, sadly.

Global Dimming has its own set of problems. I know you're being facetious, but it is an interrelated, somewhat counter-acting phenomena.

going to, as long as CO^2 in the atmosphere continues to rise, hey maybe at this rate, I can be the old guy who makes Jurassic Park, without some sort of biodome for an island.

AlGore Akbar! /boom

The real danger to the world is that it is liberals that subscribe to the religion of global warming and they will never, ever, eh-eh-eh-eh-ever admit when they are wrong. They will take us all down with them. It is a sickness and I would pity them if they weren't so mean, arrogant, dismissive and dangerous.

"take us all down with them"? What do you pose is the result of lowering carbon emissions and moving to sustainable clean energy sources that's taking anyone down? Or do you mean to propose that if liberals were wrong and energy companies make less money it would be vastly more harmful than if morons are wrong and we turn Earth into Venus?

more like the only result is the climate staying the same like it has been for centuries while bleeding billions of dollars from the Ametican economy and giving it away to nations "effected by climate change"

for starters (incoming executive order!)

On behalf of the villanous lair homeowner association (VLHA) we are vehemently against setting off volcanoes for any reason other than dramatic effect. We pay our taxes, operate generous staff and are dedicated to sustainable acts of villainy.

Now about those moon bases...

Aren't all homeowner associations villainous? Or, at the very least, passively malignant?

the " accelerating instability in vulnerable areas of the world and are serving as catalysts for conflict" this sounds to me as preparation for protecting or fighting for resources, like water. i know it seems like oil all the time but folks need to realize water is like gold, and not a lot of areas have a vast abundance of it or means to get it. It could be a means to start a conflict over, or food shortages.

in before someone says convert ocean water

Actually it isn't. There hasn't been warming since the late 90's, the AGW folks are calling it "global pause" and coming up with some contradictory and very physics defying reasons for it. One of the craziest is that the Oceans don't follow thermodynamics and are secretly hiding all this man made heat and will suddenly unleash it on us one day.

Strangely enough we also happen to be in the middle of a solar minimum right now with it expected to end around 2020. If you take away the data manipulation then we've actually cooled a little bit since it stopped warming. Expect a cold winter again this year.

sounds an awful lot like the UN's agenda 21 does it not ? turning the united states into a 3rd world and making development nations 1st world right ?

Yeah we do send a lot of american tax dollars overseas when it should be invested in the country itself, i'm tired of folks saying america has obesity problems, we also have starving Americans too that die from hunger and failing infrastructure.

thank god we still have the 2nd amendment.
