Somebody a long time ago once asked me to pt when my drk was lvl21-ish and then in the same pt invite asked me about my gear.

I said I didnt own any hq things and then they said [no thanks] on me joining

Tell me the setup before I waste my time spelling out all my gear. I'd take it as a legit question though.

people should have the right to question one's gear/sub/setup/etc. They pay for the game just like everyone else and they (we) don't want our time to be wasted. If you get mad b/c we asked and/or said no, FFXI is not the game for you.

And tell me your gear before I waste my time getting your rep. I don't ask every person their gear, but if they ask me the set up, I reserve to right to ask gear, too, lol

Both are valid questions, but it seems a bit malicious to kick someone for not having primo gear simply for asking the party set up.

However, this all depends on context. The party set-up question could be innocent as in changing a sub to better suit, or even changing job to one that would benefit more. However if they guy was asking set up to be snooty like certain jobs tend to do (bard..), then fair game.

This being said, I don't really have a story of my own to go on here. I do recall refusing a few invites because leaders were crazy. One such event was a call for a tier one znm, the puk that drops the garuda headband. When I joined I assumed it would be your pop your drop, but this leader had the bright idea that the headband was all his and didn't even have a pop item of his own.

Maybe not on the same idea as the thread but I suppose it is close enough.

I never said I had a problem with it, but typing 1-5 jobs takes alot less time than 16+ pieces of gear, and if you come with less than 16 pieces of armor, then you shouldn't be meriting anyway.

Not entirely the same idea it seems but I'd say it fits due to ur post pretty much having the same underlying message that the OP does...new-age players are bad, they cry a lot, they *** when ***isn't handed to them and they have no idea how the game works.

I got GM'd for harrasement for telling this guy that he needed a Noble's tunic..and even OFFERED to buy it for him if he used it...I mean come on...

It's not that I kick them but once they become strict on the type of party they'll join, I become strict on the gear they have. So I don't kick them, lol I just not invite them.

I don't ask what their gear is, I join the party, and just as we're about to start, "Why is the SAM wearing Beetle Earrings?"
Usually it's alot more (or less in these cases) and 5% of the time they get a swift kick out of the party from whoever the leader is. The other 95% I "rage" quit.
