ok this is probably going to sound lame. My computer is about 5+ years old it's a dell dimension 4600 but it's very well upgraded let me post my system stats

p4 3ghz
2gh ram
nvidia 6800 ultra
sound blaster x-fi elite pro
250gb hdd

ok well this is the jest of the system, yes I know it's extremely old but I was wondering if there is a slim possibility that I would be able to play ffxiv on this machine? I also thought I could buy a new video card 1gb ati hd series agp cards for like 100$. Maybe if I get this card it would help me be able to play? Or is it a waste?
any type of feedback on this would be appreciated. Just can't afford to put down 500+ on a new computer unfortunatly for ffxiv

Not likely I'm afraid. Specs might change before release, but if that benchmarking test was any indication you don't have a chance :(

You will be lucky to get 10fps on Low. I suggest getting a new Power supply then upgrading to a newer card....If your PC has enough room for expansion that is. Probably be a good idea to buy 2 more GB of ram

that CPU isn't going to be strong enough to run XIV imo.

Possibly could go for an ATI 5750/5770,the 800 series might be out of your reach. Think they are about £100-120. Your CPU seems okay, i think the minimum is 2.9GHz per core to run XIV? I dont remember

You can play with that machine.

But the GeForce 6 is too slow for high, and the P4 3.0 is too slow for low for anything to be enjoyable.

You could easily find a CPU + MB + Memory set today for around $200-$300 and stuff it in your DELL case.

It's a temporary solution at least and would at least double your current performance.

I don't think it would even be that high. My laptop beats his computer in every way and I only got like a 2000 on the High quality benchmark.

XIV is going to be brutal on every laptop for at least 2-3 years.

My brand new laptop's graphics card sucks, Everything else is fine, I can't even open the Benchmark for FF14...guess I'll have to wait till the PS3 version comes out. I'm not spending $1200 on a pc that will run it so I can play the game for 2 years since I just bough this one back in Febuary.

For 750 USD you can get one that will run it on MINIMUM settings. This would not be a laptop though, it would be a desktop PC. Laptops are generally weaker unless you wanna spend 3k on one, even then the desktop you make for 3k would be better.
