Bad Timeing On Connection Loss.

ok. this is a thread on storys about bad timeing on connection issues.

i just experienced one thanks to my crappy ISP..
I'm currently working on my cloth craft and hit the guild at 6:00 @ open. and find that they are selling the item i need at minimum price (by time i finish my product for skill-up. i can sell it for MORE then i bought the materials for!)... this is just before maintenance so i had a possibilities of logging back in with them still being min price. no... i lose connection and can't get back on... by time i re-establish.. its too late... hours of beating the modem for nothing more then what i managed to bag before i lost connection..

also. another one that got me boiling.
i log in late to do my LSs last sky. and the item i won the item i wanted. and had to hightail it up to sky just in case it doped.. on my way up... red ball of doom... again ISP issues. time Warner up to there normal crap. by time i logged back in. they killed it... IT DROPS! and rotted... and nobody got it... goodbye syru kote..

on a side note.. don't go with time Warner.. at least in my area. the connection is about as stable as PuO2 (plutonium & oxygen) @ 2000 degree C.

anyone else have any nasty ones?

I used to have some bad connection issues with TW cable, are you in TX ?

I once DCed just before Eastern Shadow popped. By the time I logged on, it was claimed and had only been fought for maybe 10 seconds tops.

that sucks man lol :/ i've had some nasty ones too...

homam piece i REALLY wanted dropped, and i was winning lot on it, look away for a few seconds for something or other (had to go answer the door or something, i dunno). came back, found out i was experiencing the red ball of doom >.< had already timed out and couldn't possibly save it. try to log back in but kept getting the "already logged in message". by time i loaded back up... it had JUST dropped.

another time was during my ZNM shell. i had literally waited weeks to be able to pop my mamool.... thingy. you know, that blm/whm one, i don't remember his name now. i had JUST popped it, and boom, d/c. luckily, it went back up just before they killed it, so no harm done :) 2x naglering boooo xD

and my favorite (lmao!!!) d/c of all time -.- internet went down.... right before my own FFXI wedding. yea. that.... that made me cry, pretty much. didn't much get the practice done, but i did manage to hijack the neighbor's internet for the short time i needed! :) i was happy~

S.kote are hard to get? I floored so many of those it's not even funny.

the trigger items are not that hard to get/expensive if you have the right jobs too, get some triggers and then ask in your LS if they could offer a hand?

Just before maintenance tonight, friends of mine and myself had a discussion over the wording of the maintenance. We came to the agreement that we would be able to stay in game, just not log back in if we logged out. We then proceeded to pop Lord Ruthven and our 30~40 min of killing it. We got about 25 min in, and got the message of, Please log out now. "Well this sucks" and then poof, R0.......... Now we await the verdict, did we D/C with Ruth still Eternally Damning us or not..... Only time will tell =P

I have a shitty DC story.... Was with a dyna shell for a long time...doing the usual city/ice rotations but never seeing Sch AF2 mortarboard drop...ever in like months... One dyna I'm in, we're like 20m from exiting and I DC for like 7m or so...I come back and it dropped AS I DCed and rotted since I was the only sch wanting it.....haven't dynaed since then lol

I always used the S. Kote for barrage & Slug Shot, and the crimson hands for ranged attacks and sidewinder.

lol i had capped time in abyssea and left to dump merits, came back with a single stone in my inventory. i zoned in through the maw was walking up to the npc, dc came back in and had none of the time and only the 1 stone i had on me so i winged it, good thing the alliance was getting enough extensions i guess.

This isn't all that bad, but recently I was teletrace whoring and d/c'd right after taking a guy's money. ;-; I sent the money back to him when I got back online. Must have looked pretty bad, though, because I was naked and /anon.

I was up for 35 ares legs and d/c'd fighting Gyro at -10%... came back someone got really lucky and got drop. Took me 5 months to finally get mine.

A few months ago i was half way though soloing olla media on my rdm/nin when i got disconnected, came back to find re-raise had gone and no pot in sight.
Was so pissed off that night.

my gf kept d/cing at the end of the CS when you beat the ark angels... she did this bout 4 times i think, had the watch the CS over and over >.> lol.

Oh another story. Not really a d/c related thing, but still sucked nevertheless:

My LS was camping Ulli back when Ulli was actually a lotto pop and not item popped. We killed statue placeholders for 5-6 HOURS. Then out of nowhere this JP LS claims it when they were around no longer than 15 minutes.

Needless to say we were very unhappy.
No extra byakkos for us that week ; ;

DC'ed after claiming Arugus with stun on drk. Finally log back on to see someone doing the "I got the drop dance". Mad as a whino out of liquor. >=/

Worst I had was a few years ago.

Ran FRANTICALLY to hook up the old PS2 (no, wasn't on Comp yet... comp I was using never would have ran FFXI)

Once it was finally updated and online...
I logged in just in time for the kill, pants dropped, and crisis adverted.

i used to have a crappy connection that would dc every couple of minutes at certain times of the day. i'd seek for party for hours and hours, and when the party finally got started, i'd start dcing so much i couldn't even stay on long enough to log back in and say i was having problems. sucked :<

was duo'in haku for 2.5 hrs when he was at 4% friend dc'ed.. but came back at 1% heh

My Internet disconnects EVERY 3 HOURS give or take enough deviation to move the times forward by about 15 minutes every day.

The worst two times were when I was NM camping.

First time I was in Konschtat Highlands camping the Ram NM for the horn for the Purple Belt quest. A friend of mine was helping me camp it. It popped. We claim it. I DC RIGHT AS they Weapon Skill and kill it. That was the first time I ever rage quit on FFXI.

Second time it really screwed me over. I was camping Chaneque for the Birdbanes. Things were fine until some other people came right before pop time. Now I knew the DC was coming soon, but I wanted these things. This was right as I started my "Weekend of Camping Chaneque" to get them. As you can tell, it pops. I claim it. I DC. RAGE to be had. I logged back in to see it gone, and the other people were gone.
