Speaking if the effects of h2h during footwork, Now that this martial knuckle thing is settled.. What about Useshi? They have a "Kick attacks" +3 bonus, is there anyway to test if this is still active during footwork?
It would effect the rate in which you kick twice. If kick attacks activates while using footwork, you kick a 2nd time. Same with melee hose.
Right.. but melee hose aren't in your h2h slot, i'm curious as to whether or not its still active after footwork is activated. It would be stupid it it wasn't.. but i've seen worse.

Yes, it is. Kick attacks job trait is active during footwork and this enhances it. It should be active.

I don't see why they wouldn't. Martial weps are very particular in only working for that weapon, and as stated before, your feet count as your weapon.
Kick attacks+3 on the otherhand, it'd be like having double triple attack on a dagger, which can proc on both daggers to my knowledge.
I've been having a wonder about Asuran Fists recently, am I right when I see there is a kick attack added into the animation? If so, I was wondering whether Dune boots, or other kick att+ give this attack extra damage? I can't imagine it would boost your damage by much, but could be a little extra help?

there use be the belief long ago that dune boots gave +10% dmg to regular attacks and thats why other jobs can wear them. I don't know if it was disproved or simply fell out of favor as a belief.
well, I played around with MNK/THF last night, and I got consistent 1408 WS dmg with SATA+Dragon Kick. I didn't have Martial Knuckles, but I had a pair of kicking shoes on.
idk why anyone thinks there's any option other than Meteor Cesti for Dragon Kick build...
Because if your acc isn't capped in your TP build, you'll gain more TP and WS more times w/ something like hades or waghs and do more damage overall than having 3 str 4 vit.
Also, in your DK build. Forager > melee cape 90% of the time Gorget >>>>>> torque Flame ring > topaz ring (and i saw you have one from your Sam set, so why would you use topaz over it?).
As far as 50% str 50% vit goes, 1 str = 1 vit for mod, but since str also counts towards fstr and gives attack as well. 1 str > 1 vit on Dragon kick.
I've seen it spoke of elsewhere, but for the sake of spreading the word I sincerely think elf women need like a 25% damage boost to give credit for the thunder thighs they waltz around in all day.

Yea, it works for Gary Oak w/ his pokemon's power and his girth so I don't see why it can't be applied to ffxi

I think i didn't have a gorget when I made that set, i do now tho'... I swapped out 8STR for 9VIT, which can be 10VIT if i wasn't being cheap on the ring. guess i could test it out a bit, but when you're doing SATA DK does the extra attack even help much? was just relying on capping out my mods
but going with your line of reasoning... should i just keep Black Belt on for WS too? 7STR vs. 5STR 5VIT?
regardless, DK shouldn't really be used for anything but in/out WS'ing common to HNM fights... since TPing with Footwork is slow, and recast on Footwork is even slower.
so you're still TPing to 300, then boosting 12, then SATA DK and run away... Meteor Cesti ftw. anything otherwise, should just be using Asuran Fists or Howling Fist... SA Howling Fist if you're really dying to MNK/THF in exp.
Well even w/o the attack they are both 50% mods, which means they do the exact same thing as far as mods are concerned, but str will also give you fstr.
As far as boosting goes, is that really necessary? Is one boosted x12 going to beat the 2-3 boosted x1 that you could do in the same amount of time? I know it'll get you the epeen number, but as far as total damage over time, I can't see that being very constructive.

i see what you're saying... and you're right, DoT is always > that epeen numbers. but then again, relying on DK for your DoT is just as ridiculous.
Kick Attacks are slooooooow Better off just deleting this thread and telling the guy to give up and use SATA Howling Fist, except when your Footwork recast is up, then you're allowed to DK.

Footwork is a "constant" JA, just like Counterstance.
but for the HNM MNK that wants to SATA DK... is where i'm posing my argument. don't need +attack when you're already boosting to 999attk. STR + VIT balance ftw.
Ok, so i recently did some tests with Martial Knuckles. I was in Altepa killing scorpions out of boredom, figured i would mess around with Footwork for fun.
While doing this i noticed Dragon Kick doing alot more damage, of course. But then i got to thinking about this weapon, which would obviously boost Dragon Kick damage, as it varies by TP. So i decided to warp back and head to the AH and grab a pair of these knucks. I went back and and continued killing scorpions but now with these knucks on. There was a pretty decent difference in Dragon Kick Damage. About an average of 300 damage more than any other weapon at 100% TP to "Too Weak" scorpions...
I have not tried this in a party or to VT/IT mobs but will soon, ya never know, this maybe could do some nice damage. Then just add a Sneak Attack and this could be BIG... Could this possibly bring back the long gone MNK/THF??? Haha just giving people something to think about. :):)
