They don't like -any- outside influence, as is why they wanted to ban access to Google, removing all their servers from inside of China. I agree, it looks like SE are sectioning off China, but it was probably the only way China would let the game be sold in their country. No you misunderstand me, I mean it will be harsh AT the end of XIV's life. They don't always do maintenance at Europe peak time. Just because you don't have a job and sit at home playing FFXI all day doesn't make your play time "peak time".

There's over 2 billion Chins over there, I'm sure at least half of them are playing, that's more than the user base in the entire western hemisphere
If you don't play FFXI, how do you know when maintenance is? Last time a brit bitched about maintenance being during "EU prime time" It was actually around lunch time GMT, which happens to be prime time for JP and AUS. Funnily enough, there's emergency maintenance in the next hour or so, which is the same time.

Reason being, it would be 0200 JST. It's not rocket science.
