Don't judge me.. they were good when they were with nitro. If you would have seen them before they sold out to interscope and whored themselves on mtv. Saw them live with Tiger Army, one of the few bands that sounds just as amazing live, as they do on albums. Afi isnt bad
but you're right, when most bands goes with mainstream labels, they lose their true sound and usually don't sound as good anyways my fav 5 artists/bands: Buckethead Paul Gilbert Norma Jean Protest the Hero Muse AFI's Adam carson drum solo, with Tiger Army. 1)Disturbed
2)Slipknot 3)AC/DC 4)Godsmack 5)Korn I think it's safe to assume that there's no bands in this thread that I actually like.
Idk, haven't looked around but people have sucky tastes in music nowadays. I think you should take a look around Enternius

I like Pinback but I don't think they'd even crack my top 10. Haven't heard your #3 and 4, having a listen now. I never said NIN or Radiohead aren't popular. But neither of them are mainstream.
Actually come to think of it I specifically did say Radiohead WAS famous. 1. Radiohead
2. Radiohead 3. Radiohead 4. Radiohead 5. Radiohead (See my ffxi pic and comment ;3) NIN has been pretty mainstream since Closer, Radiohead since Creep. Mainstream = popular = a lot of people like it. You have at least 2 interests in common with a substantial number of people and say

And, that's the only band that stays at the top for me, other favorites change all the time. Enternius said: most people have sucky tastes in music nowadays. Fixed. And mainstream ≠ popular. Mainstream is something you'd hear on the radio or see on...Bleh...MTV. While Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails do have lots of fans, it's been years since I've seen either of them on TV or heard either of them on the radio. They still play music on MTV? /sarcasm, I see what you're getting at.
I wonder sometimes what would happen if people had access to a wide variety of music from birth, how tastes would sort out... I was exposed to a lot of 70s-80s rock, Christian contemporary (ew ew ew ew ew), some jazz, and eventually classical when I took up the musical life. Looking at what I listen to now... it's all extensions of my rock, jazz, and classical roots. My favorites tend to blend traits from 2 or more of the above, hence my fascination with various progressive and post-rock outfits. There's other stuff I listen to - I'm slowly building a blues and hiphop collection for example - but I always come back to the same broad categories of music. Oh lawdy, I haven't heard Ok Go in years. I'm digging Fair to Midland, but... do all their lyrics run like that? Made absolutely no sense to me >.<;

We miss you Piggy ; ; 2004 remix, if anyone's wondering why it sounds a bit different. Did wonders for the sound quality, wish they'd remix the full album. I'm currently obsessed with Atreyu (well, three of their songs, anyway). >,<
Yay, stuff to add to my "To Listen To" list when I need more new-to-me stuff to obsess over. Hyadain from Niconico/YouTube/etc. though because I'm a huge dork. 5 bands that are tickling my fancy the most currently...
I don't have a favorite of all time though. Too much music out there, all perfect in its own way. When I'm not listening to sad *** punk rock.. this is what i listen to while i exp my ninja!
