So yeah, I was browsing around the new stuff for Monk in this update and I cam across these.

Taurine Cesti

Same Delay as Destroyers but more damage. Doesn't have the Crit Boost but has a Boost Boost. I for one am interested in how they handle and where to get them.

Not only a boost boost, but the STR is kinda hot, too. I am a fan already.

But, no, no clue what to do to get them.

That's kinda funny, Taurine is what they put in energy drinks, to give you a boost.

I'm impressed really. The Subtle Blow shouldn't go unnoticed either. Yes Subtle Blow is easy to get in gear, but +10 is still really nice on the weapon that already has a boost mod and +6 str.

Knowing SE they will probably have us sell our souls in order to obtain 'em. We'll see :-p

Depends on how much they boost boost, really. Taipan fang have+9 str at 90, 3 higher base dmg (though a bit more delay) and 20 attack (for all hits DoT and WS) not to mention that for ws, that 20 extra attack brings in more attack from boost as well (since boost is a percentage)

That out of the way though, worthless once you complete WoE wep, even if better than taipans, so if you're going to sell your soul for anything, get to WoE

Have to consider the closer you are getting to attack cap, and haste cap on mnk, the less you want to use boost, as it will slow you down and the added attack may be doing nothing for you at all. ~

Really depends on the new attack cap we'll need to reach. Youll have around 536 attack with just gear/cruor buffs. Add in a drink/food and youll be at 750~ish. That would mean boost is pushing you 885 and more with those knuckles. If you arent even getting the full % from boost I doubt you should be boosting esp at a higher haste.

*If the only attack boost you have is food, I can see boost being ideal, although with so many temp item chest spawning its hard not to have drinks available 100% of the time if not at minimum 85% of the time. Rotate it with berserk and you should be gold.*

Having the drink a high % of the time is only really relevant to exping. If you're doing NM runs or something of the sort, it's not always going to be available. and Idk about you, but all my merits are capped for all my jobs and my mnk is 90 w/ capped buff, so i wno't be exping on it anymore, lol.

Same;;

However I run a LS so I have to exp every day lol. What we do is box farm for KI/TE while farming NMs into smaller groups. Can take 3 ppl to farm for boxes while 3-4 others farm NMs(probably less but more increases attack speed). So with a party size or a few more, you can really stay in a zone all day and farm seals/gear and most +2 items. Doing it that way also allows you to get temp items/bene boxes so you can pretty much zerg down all the NMs bosses if you dont need to proc anything(hi2u chloris/Carabose)

I think Taipan Fangs will undoubtely be better, possibly even the DEX version or the weaken defense one.
I think there is little to discuss on this.
Just like relics/mythics/empyreal are even better.

Thing is though that Taurine Cesti should be relatively easy to obtain (kill NM, get drop, ???, profit), whereas for all of the others mentioned options you need to work your *** a lot.
Take me for example, I know I'm a big lazy douche, but I really can't stand elemental trials.
Wish I did because I'd love a Pet: MAB one for my PUP, a MAB/MAC one for my NIN, a DEX one for my NIN, maybe even a PDT one for MNK and so on, but I really can't stand doing elemental trials.

What I hate about them is that you can't do it when you want. That "feeling" frustrates me a lot and takes out all of my already small will to do trials.
Other trials are different, they require you to kill XX mobs. That might take a lot of time, possibly even more than elemental trials, but you can do it slowly, with your pace, whenever you want.
It's a HUGE and relaxing difference for people who work or are busy RL and can't play as much as they would like to.
Usually I like to spend my in-game time doing other things. Farming those nasty seals already steals so much of my time I hardly have any left after D:

So yeah, under this perspective I think these cesti are a really nice and decent alternative for people who can't really achieve any of the other better options.

I stand corrected. These are slightly ahead of taipan+2 in abysea and very very slightly behind (basically even) outside of abyssea, before accounting for boost. However should only last a couple of months

Outside abysssea, according to montonen's spreadsheet

Barracudas +2 (15 STP) 134.252
Barracudas +2 (WS Dmg) 134.272

That's nice. Not worth for people already working on other options, but something to look for for all the lazy ones.

Where can you find the full list of that spreadsheet? Is it kinematic's? I see some other lame weapons (like Heofon) are missing. Heofon should be somewhere above Destroyers, above taipan+1 (old baseline) and under taipan+2 (new baseline)

He did Heafon last time around and they were basically even to the old baseline of taipan+1. The delay on them sucks balls. He hasn't done a full list for lv 90 yet though he just made this post yesterday
