Damn my state! I love you, but AGAIN?!? There is no place for creationism in a science class! TX
The sexual preferences of historical figures are completely superfluous! CA
I'm really leaning towards Ron Paul more and more. Let's just do away with the Department of Education as a whole and let education be determined at the state, local and personal levels.
Personally, privatized education seems to be the way to go now. I wouldn't mind a tax write off for those who choose to homeschool (even though I'm not a fan of homeschooling) or send their children to private schools.
Education is a hard subject to debate, I know a lot of people who downright think education should be what we NEED math, science, and english only.
No foreign languages?
Nope, had a long group argument about it a month or so back Idr the reason for it, something about it's not as important and you can learn it as a side project outside of school, or something like that.

Yeah no. Foriegn language should be included. If anything it should almost be stressed more than English. I learned little in 10th to 12th grade English that I didn't already know. Politics, world culture and history are all useful unless you like the idea of spending the rest of your life forever stuck in one place with what is almost a communist style education.

I have to agree with Uri here. How can you have a better understanding of the modern world if you have no knowledge of why things are in the first place.
Also, THE US NEEDS GEOGRAPHY. It's absolutely embarrassing that some people can't even point out their own state on a map much less other countries.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
