So, I finally joined the Beta Testing forums today and noticed something that was...well, stunning to me. Matsui was nowhere to be seen. In his, and director Ito's place is Naoki Yoshida who is lead Producer and Director, Matsui is only the Battle System director, which is probably why people are complaining about the battle system, It's bearable IMO, I'm not saying anything bad about it.
So, what I learned today was..
Akihiko Matsui = Takes an enjoyable game and turns it to a ball of ***.
Naoki Yoshida = Takes a ball of ***and turns it into an enjoyable game.
Which make me think, what if after FFXIV is launched and gets off the ground, SE puts Matsui back in his place of designing battle systems, and puts Yoshida in the role of Producer, or even Producer/Director for FFXI? I could see it happening...

I saw one person complaining that enmity needed fixed after saying spamming shield lob didn't get him enough hate and burned his tp too fast... That being the worst possible method of trying to keep hate short of just auto attacking.
Also the amount of people who can't wrap their heads around buying a pair of pants off a merchant makes me fear use of the duty finder >.>

Also the amount of people who can't wrap their heads around buying a pair of pants off a merchant makes me fear use of the duty finder >.> Yeah, my "it's bearable" was more a jab at Matsui. I think this is what Matsui is good at, I don't think he's cut out to be a Producer. As for the flow of battle in XIV, I rather like it. In XI, as a melee you basically buffed, auto-attacked, WS'd, auto-attacked, etc. In XIV you can WS constantly, it always feels like you're doing something, and not waiting for a WS to come up. Secondly, I played THM and due to Blizzard's added effect, I can spam it on easy stuff and instantly recover MP, if I want to do better damage, I use Transpose, spam Fire till I'm low on MP and move back to Blizzard, on PGL there was a constant flurry of Bootshine -> True Strike -> Snap Punch and occasionally a Haymaker thrown in, which does good dmg. Brotip: Use Featherfoot as Haymaker requires you evade before you can use it.
I started ALC and loved it, Next weekend, or during P4 (whenever that is) I look forward to trying GLD and ARC, but will probably main PGL->MNK and THM->BLM, with ALC and my Crafter, so much to do, so much content to look forward to, and a whole world I've yet to see. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm looking forward to it. Archer has a ton of input to keep up with so you should like that. It doesn't get combos like the other DoW but instead certain attacks can boost others and a couple core attacks which ignore the GCD. For example straight shot will boost your crit rate for 20 seconds so you want to keep that up, and heavy shot works with it by having a chance to make your next straight shot a forced crit. Also you level up your DoT attacks will be able to reset the cool down on bloodletter (Which you can fire off between attacks that use the GCD) as they tic so if you want to max the class you need to be on your toes.

So, I'm curious. Say I'm a lv 30 THM, I do the quest for "Soul of the Black Mage" and I equip it. Am I now recognized as a lv 1 BLM or a lv 30 BLM? I understand that THM is a base Class while BLM is a job, but does it keep the level?

Yah, you keep your class level as THM (30) as the BLM job overwrites your ability sets. You are then limited to the Job abilities of BLM and the class abilities of THM you had unlocked so far--as well as PUG and ARC I believe--as part of your available pool. If you remove the stone again (to become just THM) then you are able to apply abilities from all the classes.
Each of the later Job quests unlocks further job-specific abilities to make up for the loss of diversity.

Couldn't resist. :P Also, I'm sober today.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
