Using dublin as the main example since it's the capital.

Dublin is only 26km from here and there is a train that goes right into the city center.

Plenty of bus routes and lesser trains for the surrounding area of where I live.

I could see the weird looks if you lived around here. Motorcycles are great until you have medium/heavy snowfall and then it's far too cold/dangerous to be a primary mode of transportation.

We dont get too much snow around here. Maybe 4-6 weeks in an entire year. Bucketloads of rain though. But that isnt too bad. The short time when you cant ride it (snow,ice,etc) it's still easy to get around with other stuff. Idk, I just dont understand people and their "different is weird!" mentality :(

Well...yea... to be weird is to differentiate from the norm. Being different thus has a good chance of having you labeled as weird.

Edit: What I'm trying to say, is their thinking is correct in saying it's "weird" but you're looking at the word the wrong way. You as a person decide what connotations "weird" has as a word to you. You can either embrace it or take it as a bit of an insult. I personally use the word weird quite often when noticing things that either don't make sense to me or interest me, it's not bad when coming from my mouth it's a way for me to say "That's odd, lets find out why that is so." or "That's very interesting." However, this doesn't change weird's actual definition.
