I never actually finished 9 either... Years ago I made it to the last boss while borrowing it but never actually finished it before giving it back XD The game didn't really do anything for me tbh.
My final boss fight in 9 was pretty funny.
Boss used Berserk effect on everyone, and my characters just went crazy on it since I used mostly melee based ones.
I touched maybe 3-4 buttons and just watched the rest lol.
Boss was dumb enough to just keep protecting itself after that lol.
*cough* Besides bad characters it had good and original battle mechanics *cough*
I HATED the battle system. (And it wasn't unique or innovative imo, just a mix between X-2 and XII)
Hated the characters, hated the story, hated the linear-ness, there wasn't a single bit I liked.

I never did beat 13.. That last fight was just too ridiculous for me.. I'm not an RPG fan, I'm better at them than a lot of people, but I'll never be as good as those who are a fan of the Genre..
One damn miscalculation or *** up, and you get to do the first 20-30 mins all over.. Or however long it was.. I know it was ridiculously long. I just got tired of it.

Graphics! Can't tell me you hated them too..
Actually to a degree yes. Not in terms of graphical quality, but rather as leverage to airbrush everyone and make them virtually flawless in image is total ***.
If someone went through hell, they needed to look beat up and rugged to convince me of that. Having perfect skin and a pretty face just won't do.
Well hell, that's a problem in most games.. Go through an entire FPS getting shot the entire time, never mind that you'd be about 200 pounds heavier just from bullets lodged in you, there's no holes in the clothing <_<..

I think one of the first games I saw incorporate damage consideration into appearance of characters was a remake of Castle Wolfenstein. I remember slashing this crazy doctor with a knife, and was shocked to see his lab coat torn up where I hit him.
But anyways, my point was the appearance of a character usually should reflect what they've undergone as a person.
So far all I can tell of lightning was that she was a runway model.
Graphics don't make a game, especially not a game like FF. And anyway, yeah, they were pretty, but nothing special. A lot of games out have pretty graphics these days.

Speaking of which, I'm gonna go play some more Earthbound :3
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
