I can relate to this comment but more towards working somewhere cause you needed a job and know it's not going to be worth retiring or holding onto after one or two years.

Some people might see that comment towards them being dedicated at their job til they got ***on and then just go there to collect a paycheck.
A job can definitely turn into a career, and what once started out as a career, can turn into a mind-numbing, soul-stealing, motivation breaking job.
