I've put together what I think would be a decent machine.
Case - Corsair Carbide Series Air 540
CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K
Motherboard - ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO
Heatsink - Cooler Master Hyper 612 Ver.2
Heatsink Gel - Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
Power Supply - Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular
SSD - Crucial M500 960GB (Subject to change)
Additional Fans - Corsair Air Series SP120
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB)
Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Current Price: $1603
Any input would be nice.
Could probably go cheaper on the Mobo and get a smaller SSD with a HDD for storage and cut off a couple hundred bucks. Assuming you already have a case as well?
Also that heatsink is massively huge... big like x-box. Might want to double check that you have space for it.
How cheap are mobo? That one is only like 208.
Think the Case is big enough also:

If you're building something like this, why not just go ahead and get the 980 instead of the 970? I'd also just get like a 240/320GB SSD and like a 2TB storage drive.
Cause the 980 is 200 bucks more. It's not worth it for the minimal amount of a performance upgrade from the 970.
The problem I have with those small SSDs is that games today are freaking huge. GTA was like 80 gig. That's just one game. If games keep up with this pace thats only 2 Games and the OS.
