Guy wants rent for housing in 14, even though a lot of the people who don't have houses can't afford the crazy costs he's advocating
Here are some quotes lol
Quote:
Housing's secondary purpose is to destroy gil. This is an absolutely necessary function for the well being of this game's economy, and Housing has ceased to perform this function in any meaningful capacity. Aggressive rent prices as high as 5% or even 10% of a plot's cost a month, would turn Housing back into the gil vacuum it needs to be.

This thread has really turned into a textbook example of the have/have not aspect of human psychology.
On one end of it, you've got the haves, who will do any kind of mental gymnastics they can possibly squeeze themselves through to justify the current system.
On the other end, you've got people who want to tear it down. I suppose I'm the latter, although in a rather different sense, as the system I'd like penalizes me as much as anyone else (plot taxation).
That, and even if I had a home this very moment, I'd still want to be taxed, and I'd still want my home to be something I could lose. That does make me less selfish than a lot of you. If that makes you mad, well, maybe you should reflect on why.
Quote:
As for your doubts as to my level of altruism and unselfishness with my imaginary fantasy money, I can think of a better way to equalize than to shove my gil up my own butt: I'm going to give some away to new players, and I'm going to lick my lips with pleasure and think of you while I do it. I'll take screenshots of the process, and edit them into this post when I'm done.
NOTE: DON'T BOTHER ASKING ME FOR GIL. It went to the unsuspecting, the unwary, the obviously and genuinely new.
I think that's enough charity for the moment.
For those of you who don't have a house or don't play XIV, 5-10% of our plot's cost would be 2.5m-5m or 5-10m a month (price we paid vs full price for plot)
