Hopeless Petition for Bloodborne on PC Closes Just Shy of 50,000 Signatures; Shows the Game’s Success
About a year ago, a weirdly-titled petition on change.org emerged, pleading (in a rather aggressive way) for a PC port of the PS4 exclusive Bloodborne.
Despite the fact that the petition was basically hopeless, considering that Bloodborne’s IP is owned by Sony itself, and the house of PlayStation has no interest in releasing anything for what’s basically a rival platform, the plea was actually quite successful, quickly gathering support and signatures.
Today, the petition was finally closed, achieving 49,783 signatures, just 217 south of 50,000.
While the petition itself didn’t have much hope to sway Sony into porting the game, the huge number of signatures is definitely a testament to the success of the game and of the value of From Software as a developer.
Just a few years ago they were a veteran Japanese studio that didn’t exactly have a huge following in the west. Today, the Souls series made them into one of the most popular developers in the world.
That’s quite ironic, considering that Sony initially failed to see the potential of Demon’s Souls and refused to publish it in the west, forcing us to wait until Atlus and Namco Bandai finally stepped in, sparking the massive success of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s super-challenging games.
