If one isn't happy with themselves they will never be happy with another.
This is the key to pretty much every happy long term relationship I've ever seen or been a part of; both people were complete people beforehand. If you need your partner to fill some gap, that changes the dynamic from partnership to... I don't have a good word, so I'm going to go with "emotional vendor".
You want a partnership. Make yourself whole first, and everything else flows from there.
I know a friend who just got his first girlfriend at the age of 27. He's struggled with stuttering and mental lapses while trying to finish his sentences his whole life. Others have it worse, sure, but he didn't give up. He got his life together and put himself out there, you just have to believe in yourself. It sounds corny, but you do.
I'm no psychologist, but my perspective is that while women are okay being needed by kids/family, they would much rather be wanted by their partner. Chick flicks like to glorify men who "couldn't live without" the women they're chasing, but in reality it seems that women prefer men who are whole by themselves and not desperately trying to fill an empty spot in their life.

I haven't met a woman yet who likes a needy man. They really hate that ***. (Not trying to stereotype, literally anecdotal here).
Just couldn't stay on the topic of Backyardigans could you?
Your overly public whining infuriates me. You lost a girl, big *** deal. Most relationships end. Stop moping about it, move on, and grow from it. That's part of growing up - taking the losses, learning, growing. Holing up in a shell like Emo McTortoise is a childish move, and one a full grown adult should be well past.
Or, wallow forever. I don't care. Just shut up about it if you aren't going to try and fix your problems.
Anyway, can I request my own topic ban from RT, Rooks?
Nope not allowed!
It be for the best.
If it was voluntary I could always come back :P
I am fully capable of not needing it obviously. It is not like I can't control what I post. It is just easier that way mentally.
Why exactly a few hours? Actually nvm I don't care why. Lol, just whenever you get to it. It is an official request.
Uh, no. Topic bans last until removed. I'm not really in the business of removing them, even for voluntary ones, because then it turns into me/the mods acting as crossing guards for people who can't control impulses (moreso than we already do). You want a topic ban, it sticks.
A "few hours" for the same reason I had Aelius/Terra wait a couple days before dropping them to VIP; to think about it and make sure it's what you want, and not some hasty decision made in the heat of the moment.
It's the whole alpha vs beta discussion. A woman wants a man who is something of his own, otherwise the friendzone always has a lot of space for cattle.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
