I'm thinking I don't want to be working on this stupid essay. I'd much rather be having some "fun" with my gf, who's on my bed some 5 feet from me also working on an essay.. >< Damn you college!
Tool is so terrible. I dont understand how anyone can like them. I made my friend play that whole HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE set in guitar hero. i refused.

Okay, then listen to what you would prefer to listen to then.
Do we have any career Blue Mages here?
I'd like to know what the ideal merit layout for group 1 and 2 would be. Granted, there's many ways to utilize Blue Mage, I'm aiming for overall damage and self-sufficiency.

Someone made a whole thread on that earlier this week

Yeah, I don't want to go too in depth about that. At least not enough to surface through the typical mess of in game arguments and superiority complexes and fuzzy math. I just want a general idea on what is best and why. A quick answer will do, hence bumping this thread rather than messing with the search bar or starting a new one like a total tool.

Probably Physical potency and magic accuracy to the max. I'm not a career Blue Mage, but it just seems like shaving 20 seconds off of Chain Affinity isn't going to help you out much, whereas more magic accuracy raises your Headbutt stun effect and other magical spell accuracy, such as debuffs like Frightening roar, Dream Flower, etc. Physical potency for the accuracy of your physical blue magic, though I guess if you weren't concerned with accuracy at all ever, then you could max Chain affinity.
Monster correlation doesn't seem incredibly useful either, as most of your powerful spells are from things that don't have a place in any of the monster to monster effects.
Extra blue magic points seems absolutely invaluable in being able to utilize more spells, gain more attributes, and more utility in the many conditional situations that occur.
Now if only SE would give us BLU spell "profiles" we can auto load.
Also the TP bonus seems pretty nifty for giving Chain Affinity that little extra "umph".
Yeah, just reading over the trait and JA descriptions I basically came to this: 5 Physical Potency 5 Magic Accuracy 1 Convergence 1 Diffusion 3 Enchainment 5 Assimilation Extra blue magic points seems absolutely invaluable in being able to utilize more spells, gain more attributes, and more utility in the many conditional situations that occur. My good friend Draginhikari has tried a few different ways in meriting group two. Currently he has 5 in assimilation(though that's a no brainer), and then 5 in diffusion. He's tried having 2~3 in Enchainment, and he didn't care for it much(and personally, since he's taken them out his damage has remained the same, but loleyeballinglol). I don't remember his remarks about Convergence, though to me it seems like it's sort of insiginificant, especially with only 1 merit in it. I think I'd split them up between Diffusion and Enchainment, or just go with what he has and pour them all into Diffusion.
Diffusion would be incredibly useful in a group as there are many unique enhancements that are strictly blue magic, however, the recast even when maxed out is pretty hefty. I put one into it just for the sake of having it and just be a little more critical on when it is used. However, Convergence could be rather potent when capped due to the nature of increasing pure magical potency in the same manner that elemental staves do.
I'll see how well Enchainment works with a parser with 3 merits in it, otherwise I'd just eliminate it entirely and pour 4 into Convergence.

Yeah, its magical potency with more merits is desirable, but you couldn't count on it for any of your AoE spells or for any secondary effects on physical spells. Do you intend on being in more situations where you need to use pure magic damage? It seems like a lot to merit to add more oomph to such a sparse collection of sparsely used spells, and I mean, the recast time is a static 10 minutes always.
Yeah, but having extra potency or accuracy into a magic based spell every 10 minutes, even if only single target seems more valuable than simply having an extra 30 TP per chain affinity.
Unless there are physical spells that have conditional TP modifications like weapon skills do. Do some increase in damage with more TP, or have a critical hit rate with TP, debuff duration, etc?

While under the effects of Chain Affinity, all physical spells have additional effects that are in their description, and as far as I know all of the ones dealing with damage are brought about by Chain Affinity. Such as "accuracy varies" or "damage varies."
Basically you gotta ask yourself if you want an extra-extra oomph for your physical spells 5 times every 10 minutes or if you want 1 oomph every 10 minutes for a magical spell. If it says "<effect> varies with TP" in the description that is what will be enhanced by Chain Affinity. I've gotta go, though this was nice brain food about Blue Mage. I like discussing simple things without all that math talk, not that math is bad. Later.
Oh and my random thought for the day is, "Man, the recent Elvenking album is awesome!"
and the moral of the story is that asking a question in the "Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?" thread, you will get a random thought answer...
I have a recently discovered ingrown hair in my beard. I'm wondering if I will literally pluck a bald-spot around the correct follicle before I find the offending hair and remove it.
I think there is something very very wrong with me. For twenty five years I ave clung to the mantra that "I'm sane enough to think that I might be crazy". But I am starting to think that it cuts both ways and I'm only crazy enough to believe I am still sane.
I was reading the "why I think my linkshell is the bestest" thread and I just want to explode into a thousand rainbows and start dancing around the office naked throwing glitter and sparkles on people and screaming SUNSHINE IS FREE!!!!!! then run out into the street in front of a bus.
I have no rational *** against blonde and people like her/him. I'm sure he/she is a nice kid, don't get me wrong. But all that happiness just makes me want to start stabbing people...including myself, but mostly them. Maybe I'm just jelly that I can't cram a hat pin into my brain and join them on the funny farm, where life is beautifull all the time. Is there a special pill or something that will take me to the magical sparkley kingdom in which they dwell?
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
