I've got 3 more weeks to go. After that, in my contract, I opted to get paid smaller payments while working so that I would get about 3k for my last check which I should be getting on the 27th. There is opportunity to teach summer school or to take various professional development classes and earn a reduced pay rate for those days, but I decided instead to fly out to Wisconsin and stay out there with my family for a month. So you might think that 3k for 3 months off is what I pretty much get already and you'd be right, but my district offers tax credit for hours spent working outside of the daily schedule per semester. I need to accumulate 30 hours total or 15 hours a semester to apply for this. This includes club meetings, unpaid professional development meetings, chaperoning various school activities (for instance, prom - one of the bonuses of going, tonight), helping kids after school, etc. If I get my hours (which after tonight, I should have about 25 for the semester), they'll give us an additional stipend around late June to early July, and rumor has it that the 301 payment (that's what we call this bonus) will be about 7k. I doubt it'll actually be that, but last year I got a 4.5k check, so... yeah. I should be okay. Plus, it'll be direct deposit, so I'll be in Wisconsin eating all the cheese I can want.
