Decided to release a $20 DLC for an alpha Early Access game whose release date has been pushed back 3 times and hasn't seen any major bugfix or optimization patches since it was put on Steam. Basically they diverted resources (manpower mostly in addition to EA/KS money) to develop the $20 DLC over the last 14 months instead of finishing the game and bringing it out of Early Access. It's unprecedented for a game like this to release a DLC, especially one of this magnitude, before coming out of Early Access and no one is quite sure how Steam is going to react to it.
The DLC itself looks fine, $20 for the content it adds compared to the robbery that was Fallout 4's DLC is ok, but releasing it before the game is even feature complete or complete in any respect, putting their hands out for $20 more on top of the $30 base game before the thing is even released officially is not sitting right with most people, and for good reason.
A lot are saying that "they had to do this to pay off their $40 million settlement". Well maybe they shouldn't have broken the law then.

Gots to do teh maths yo In Destiny, your Light Level is the most important stat in the game. It directly contributes to your defense/Armor/HP stat(how many hits you can take), your attack power, and to the strength of your super abilities.
Granted, it's not the most important factor in the game. It's a FPS, so get good at aiming, get good with SNipers, get good with rockets etc. If you are good at the game, you can do things that game tells you are too hard for your current light level. At some point though, it's too much. If monsters are high enough above you, they become immune to your attacks, so you have to increase your Light level.
Weapon attack power is also important, but the last time I played, they'd altered it to also factor into your light level. Which means that unlike when Destiny first dropped, you have to upgrade your weapons to the max too, instead of just your armor. But the way it used to work was, you focused on armor first for Light level. LIke when the game first dropped, Light level 30 was the highest available light. You needed 30 in every armor slot to get it, but once you had it, you were nearly invincible, and you dealt a whole ***ton of damage, almost regardless of what your weapon damage was.
I don't know how it has changed since I last played, but I suspect it's not much different, and that they've just inflated the light level again. At the very least they've probably raised it.
I've been meaning to play it some, just haven't had the drive to do so with all my XIV shenanigans.

***like this is why I don't think you should be allowed to charge for Early Access, either that or if you don't come out of Early Access within a certain amount of time, you refund people.
If they had kickstarted to get money and never delivered a finished product, they would have to issue refunds. Steam shouldn't be any different.

Best part of it is there's loads of sheep defending this saying things like "well, Beta is when they fix bugs and make the game, not Alpha. Stop being so entitled!"
or my favorite
"They're adding extra content, they should be able to charge extra money"
Can anything truly be called "extra content" when the game isn't even finished?

The advertising bubble has been steadily deflating for a while; changes like this were inevitable. It will only get stricter (and payouts will get less) over time.
[Edit]
And actually, after reading it, it could be way worse. They're not saying you can't upload things, you just aren't as likely to get paid for it. It's a free* service, so there really isn't a lot of room to complain.
* = as always, if you're not paying for something, you're the product, not the customer

DOn't think it's really the users being affected by this, it's the content creators. Lots of big names have been having their videos demonetized as a result of this since almost anything is triggering the ... well, "no triggers" clause, aka, "no controversial subjects". Not to mention sexual/vulgar humor is so ingrained into modern society that a majority of the content on Youtube has some of it.
Youtube is nothing without content, and for that content it needs content creators. They're alienating content creators pretty hardcore with this. There's no easy workaround though, advert revenue is an extremely fickle thing (case-in-point: look at how much AH got hamstrung by it back in the day). Only way to really fix this issue would be for the world to stop becoming so PC and safeboxey (which unfortunately won't happen since the newer generation has been brainwashed into SJWism etc.) or converting Youtube into a paid-for or semi paid-for platform.
Until then, expect your favorite youtubers to turn in to a Nick jr. cartoon or disappear entirely.

So, it looks like a few of my fave channels will probably be demonetized.
I doubt this will blow up in YouTube's face but I'd like to see it happen. Don't get me wrong, I don't condone bullying or discrimination but this SJW ***is ruining a lot of stuff.

my children are 7 (boy), 5 (boy) and 1 (girl)- she wants to stay in palestine by herself cuz she's dump and doesnt understand how much safer america is;
OR (ya, i got a choice lol......)
i should buy a house (that i cant afford) and work 6 jobs to pay for her daily starbucks with friends and have a daycare for the boys until like 7-8pm or just keep them in there and we'll just visit them like a prison-mate (srs, she thinks like this).
basically, she's sexist and hated by both my parents and hers (true story)- which is why everyone doesnt want me to divorce her, bcuz no1 would ever look her way or want to indulge her with anything after said "divorce" ever occurs.
either way, i got an IRS check (that is alot of money) and now she doesnt want me to divorce her so she's staying away until she can resolve her tension with me (and im not a hard individual to please either).. idk
Wait a second. In both this and the previous post, the question lingers, is she your children's biological mother? For all three? Are you talking about "Palestine" Palestine here and not Palestine, [Insert town named after Palestine in whatever state]?
If this is the children's biological mother, how in the knobgobblin' *** did a pronounced red flag reveal itself when you realized her parents weren't even fond of their own daughter? Why doesn't she have a job, if you can't realistically afford your children without you working multiple jobs?
Are you sure you're not exaggerating? Has she not researched the cost of reputable child-care? What is she contributing to the down-payment of the house?

Quote: Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown”
This leaves a lot open to interpretation. It's the wording. That's not a list, those are just a few examples from the list that anything could be added to.
For example, I watch a lot of gun and shooting videos. Guns are a sensitive subject. Some video games could fall into this gray area too.

Expect controversial games like GTA to be no-nos. Any topics discussing politics, extremism, terrorism, feminism, gay rights, discrimination, etc.. Pretty much anything that would cause a tumblrina to hit the eject button.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
