Pros about getting a new computer: Everything runs faster and better for 3 days.
Cons about getting a new computer: Taking 3 days to install all your crap that slowed down the old computer in the first place.

Limit the amount of start up processes and you wont have to deal with any major slowdown. The more that gets opened at os launch the worse your experience becomes.

King, programs I use to keep my fire engine clean are freeware from IObit.
https://www.iobit.com/en/index.php If you download their stuff from major geeks that site often tries to get you to download other crap on the way in. Read each window carefully. I do not know why they do business with major geeks.

I could buy a new computer each year, but why waste the money? Old one still works, works fine. I just was running out of space and will be using it as a "investment tool" only computer (not using it for games, that's what my new PC is for).

Only time in like the past 7 years I've bothered to try to mask my pirating was downloading some newly released movie.
One of the oddest things I got dinged for was sharing a ff7pc download that Chaos shared to me (lol). /shrug I haven't pirated much lately, been too busy.
