Thanks for sharing! I can tell the writer plays both, but the article is very surface-level; I suppose to be read by a wide audience.

I definitely remember back when XIV was announced thinking that it would be impossible for the games to co-exist. But because XIV took a very different route, it allowed XI to continue appealing to its own audience. Honestly, that's the smartest thing they could have done, because now they've got their hands in two very different MMO markets.

My only complaint is that because the article doesn't dig very deep, the writing comes off very one-sided. Because on the surface, Final Fantasy XI is a terrible video game. The things that make it great are how the layers are stacked and the threads are interwoven.

I got to the end of the MSQ when I played, which was a week before shadowbringers dropped and haven’t got fully current again since.

Definitely miss 11 more than 14 though, but do miss iceheart and blm80 gameplay from 14; The dance between all abilities got very exciting.

We now have actual statements regarding the damage analysis from Sunday's capsize-

The hull was severely compromised (as is pretty obvious visually), and the vast majority of the on board electronics that control the foils will need to be completely replaced. The foiling arms are powered on board by batteries- the only exception to the typical "powered by wind and manpower" standard for sailing.

The hull fix is quite easy- it just remains to be seen how hydrodynamic they can keep the hull post-patch compared to prior.

The electronics...are a bit trickier. That's what most of the parts pirating of their first boat 'Defiant' is going towards, along with the other teams contributing parts from their own builds to help Team American Magic. The America's Cup has long had strange and unique rules to outside viewers with the Defender having the right to pick their own rules for the Cup they host- as a result, the electronics are identical across all 4 teams and were provided by the hosting yacht club, so rebuilding is quite possible thanks to the help from the other teams. They weren't provided materials for more than 2 builds, so essentially making a third is the result of that cooperation.

The timeline looks good, but the real test will be when she finally gets back on the water and they see what they're working with.

I love Final Fantasy Union. Their video on the history of FFXI played a big role in my decision to return to the game.

The logos are as iconic as chocobos and airships. I especially love the ones for VII and X.

So I was scheduled to arrive at 12:15pm for my procedure today with a 1:30 procedure time. They call me this morning at 9am "how soon can you get here we want to do another scan to make sure the fluid collection is still in there".

I sit there, dumbfounded. Whole reason for this was based on a week old scan showing that the fluid is still there and the drain needs to be moved/replaced. I'm over 2 hours away from the hospital they're having me go to so this is more than a slight inconvenience when I was already prepared and planned around a scheduled time period.

No one seems to have communicated or knows what the *** is going on so now I'm sitting here for another indeterminate period of time with a tube coming out my *** cheek unable to sit or lay down properly while they get it right.

Also I feel like I have to pee despite 2 catheters in my bladder and feel like I have to ***despite having 2 inches of unattached rectum. Life sucks someone please just end it.
