That's probably just because you're a smart shopper who can and actually does think, rather than be one of the people who ads are largely targeted at, the impulsive buyers who buy whatever an ad on TV tells them to.

I'm gonna quote this so I can check them out tomorrow. But, I got class in the morning, and I should probably hit the hay. But honestly, these are the types of things you don't see in games nowadays; a deep and thoughtful story. Or at the very least, they are few and far between.
I suppose that's true. If I need something that has a wide and competitive market, I tend to do my research before buying one thing over the other, especially when it's relatively expensive ($50+). But when it comes to games and stuff I look into sneak peeks and developer interviews and other junk and get a fairly good idea of whether the game is worth buying or not. For hardware and stuff, I know what brands are reliable and worth the extra cash already, and for the "new" stuff out there, get heavily researched before they're taken into consideration.
And food is a hit or miss since I tend to make my meals as often as I can.
