If you're not going for Annihilator though, I guess you could live without guns, but you would still need some kind of marksmanship to proc.

In the event that a proc would be needed, yes, there would be a spare gun to satiate the needs of an event. However, in general terms, I'd exclusively use archery. I just don't want to be a class clown for favoring one weapon over another despite numbers leaning in favor of the opposite. Keep in mind, you don't even need a gun to do marksmanship procs. Crossbow would be cheaper for procing.

I've had Annihilator for like 2 months, and it's still 75. I'm pretty fail.
As crazy as it sounds, I've been getting sick of jumping between characters over and over. I'm looking into creating a once and for all main character. All three career job choices emphasizing heavily on being part of a group (RNG, WHM, BRD).
I don't know if there's even a situation where I would even use my RNG over my WAR hence why I have been procrastinating on doing my Annihilator trials.
Aus are you sure about that? Bullet dmg is stupid high, as is anni's base. I know Jishnu's is 3 hit crit though, so I'm not 100% sure myself.
I thought Jishnu's lost of a lot of its crit rate outside of Abyssea too. I won't claim to know because I've never been into the math side of FFXI even though I could easily do it. I'm just lazy.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. People overvalue crits on it, Aluh Jambiya and Crit Haidate are the only crit related pieces of gear I'd use. And I'd replace haidate with khepri.
You guys forgot to mention the most important thing though: Last Stand is neat as hell!!

I wonder if I'll ever have a reason to use my Annihilator for what it was intended for. Needing to use Coronach etc.

How much health would a standard tank have at that level? How much attack? Are you currently lacking in one or the other, and will adding to what you're lacking add enough to make a difference?
