A loan is a type of federal financial aid. I don't have a grant. Is that what you guys got?

Their talking more about things like FAFSA. Which is federal financial aid that you do not have to pay back, and I believe mostly comes from grants.

There's one where you don't have to pay any money back. It's an income stipulation. I didn't qualify for it because I was still dependent on my parents. A few friends went through FASFA. Did you sign up through them? Do you claim yourself as dependent on taxes? That could effect it too.

One of my buddies who dropped out when we were nineteen or so applied last year or the year before when he wanted to go back, but didn't meet the requirements for it. He's been working two minimum wage jobs to make ends meet, and they basically said he made too much money! You know, that money he uses to live.

I still stand by my statement that financial aid in this country is *** beyond all recognition.

oh btw, I just got back from the job fair.

All n all, i wasn't impressed. The majority of the companies were not looking for any people for internships. mainly they were looking for people to fulfill full time jobs for the winter time frame. Which is like a huge wtf cuz the majority of the people that were attending were people looking for internships so they could progress to the full time jobs >_> so meh


so i talked to this one guy for about 6~7 minutes or so. gave him my resume.
seemed interested in me *shrug*

only bad side is, if i do get hired aboard, the company is located in houston.

Yeah, I work a full time job and a part time job, both at about minimum wage. These pay for full time school, which means I have to live with my parents to afford living. :/

Why you guys have to remind me of financial aid. :/ I still need to take out a student loan since I don't qualify this year due to my own idiocy.

At least with federal loans, you don't have to pay them back until you're done college. That's a relief. :D

For the life of me I will never understand why people like you and my buddy are given the shaft when I saw plenty of tards blow their stipend on parties and shopping sprees once it hit the bank each semester!

Eh, it taught me a valuable lesson. I need to do well in school and really stick with it or I'm going to be stuck in this position forever. I get awesome grades now. :D I'm actually looking into some scholarships. ^^

Edit: And not to be mean, but I look at those "tards" and just imagine how far they are going to go in life.

so I was standing in line for the booth.
and I glance over the shoulder of this lady in front of me
(NO NOT FOR HER BOOBS or cuz she had that semi yoruichi with glasses look or anything)
But anywho i saw her resume and was like oh ***.
Ph.D in engineering
MS in mechanical etc etc etc

and i was like...err crap >_> defiantly don't want to go before this person or after.
So i asked the guy behind me if he would like to go before me. he accepted my offer.

After a few short moments it was my turn.
Walked up to the booth dude,
introduced myself. Told him that I recently began doing research of storage virtualization with cloud computing and that their company caught my eye because they deal with storage technologies and We began talking about how their company is being bought out by IBM and some of the product details and what kind of business they operate with etc etc.
Then at the end (because the way i opened up the conversation, made it look like I was interested and wanted to know about them and stuff)
and then he told me that they weren't looking for interns but more for people to cover full time jobs. but he said they'll be back in the spring with internship positions available.
then I offered my resume and we talked a little bit longer and he was like woah cool (guess he liked my background work history and that i was doing research in their field)
shook hands again and left.

Well, they have IBM in Austin too. If you had to do an internship then inch your way into the back one back home, that might be a good alternative. I'm surprised they didn't have anyone from Dell fishing.
