Hey, I made an attempt to try to stop smoking today. Bought the e-cig along with some cheap champagne today. :P

Playing GTA Vice City with my friend and crashing helicopters into buildings, actually, lol. My sister came up and told us that the towers were hit and when we got down we saw the next plane go in on TV :O

I was in high school junior year

grade 11 physics class, we had just wrote a test that included a question about "if mel walks at a speed of X to the guidance office that is 100m away..." blah blah "how long will it take for her to drop this class cause she will fail anyways?". Our teacher was eccentric and yes the question was pointed directly at me... which I did end up dropping it a week later.
At the end of the test our teacher stood up and said "by the way the twin towers no longer exist, the pentagon was attacked. have a nice day". We had no idea what he meant until hours later when we heard the news properly.

I am a NYer, born and raised. I remember where I was that day, as a medic and a NY citizen. And with respect, some things you just can't put into words..

Everyone forgets to acknowledge the brothers and sisters of the emergency services who gladly gave their lives that day.

I got picked up by my drill sergeants to start basic training. Had been at Ft. Benning for 4 weeks already in 30th AG, which is the inprocessing part where you get issued uniforms, all your vaccinations, and wait for a training cycle to begin. Little over 2 years later I was shot while serving with the 4th Infantry Division in Iraq.

I was in a train underneath WTC #4. Came out on the Jersey side of the Hudson and the north twin tower was on fire.

I was in School, and I was 11-12ish and I came down from school at the end of the day to see my dad in his store and he said that a plane had flown in the the world trade centre, then we watched it live and saw a second plane iirc.

Twas scary stuff.

Man, I remember that day like it was September 11, 2001. Get it? Cause that's the actual... Nvm.


Anyway, I remember waking up in time to see the second plane ram into the other tower. I actually didn't think it was "That big a deal" until the towers actually collapsed. But what drove the point home, was when the Pentagon was hit. Sure, it didn't exactly cause a ton of damage, but the fact that some random doods could steal a plane and run it into the Military Headquarters of the United States, was pretty damn unsettling.

I was big into Command & Conquer then, and I remember the first thing that came to mind is "Those *** got our Construction Yard"

I was in South Korea, serving at Camp Casey, in 2-72 AR BN. I was woken up at 2am to being told that the planes had flown into the WTC and the Pentagon, and immediately went on guard duty. It was a day that will forever be burned in my memory, as well as today to learn we finally got the *** behind those attacks!

Just imagine the economical collapse if the US no longer had a use for all these defense contractors. It would be pure anarchy.

I was in high school german class. Teachers were told to keep the TVs off but they just left them on.

sitting in Tech class, when the intercom went on, telling us all to relax, and what happened... i think everyone in the school just stayed int he same glass for like 3 hours, then everyone just left

That was on my dad's 50th birthday!

My cousin was in Newcastle University when that happened! I love all of our cousins across the pond sooo much!

Still makes me feel old.. I wasn't in school when it happened, I hadn't been in school for a long time.

Meh, I'm an optimist.

I know it probably will happen again but I hold hope that it will be lessened.

I had my tv tuned to the local news channel so when the timer goes off to wake me up in the morning I would get the daily weather report, but for some reason as they were giving footage of the burning towers and pentagon I thought to myself I fell asleep watching HBO and it was some disaster movie playing.

When I realized what was going on I quickly showered and got ready for work, while in the middle of pulling up my socks to my horror I witnessed on live television the collapse of the first tower. My blood ran cold as a wave of surreal emotions washed over me during what felt like an eternity.

Once I collected myself and my thoughts I arrived at my job and since I live and worked in Brooklyn I went up to the roof and watched the smoke billowing from what remained of the twin towers until the boss came to inform us that Manhattan was being locked down and there was no way in or out the city so anyone who took the subway to go home if they had an alternate means of transportation.
