Usually you can't switch after you've chosen since you'd have to catch up. After that you can choose if you wanna learn a new language, continue the one you chose before or just skip. Some schools have Mandarin, Japanese, Italian etc as well as German/Spanish/French.
is that similar grades to US?
i read the wiki page on swedish school, but it was confusing~ the language requirements for my state are 2 semesters of a foreign language, unless you have proof of bilingualism. Oh and we learn English from first grade. We start first grade at 6/7. So you're 12/13 (depending on when you're born) in 6th grade.

to really learn anything here you have to be the top percentile that actively seeks out the most challenging classes in the school. I was at school, and didnt even hear about it until i got home, the teachers knew, but guess didn't want to tell us
Senior Year in high school, during the attacks, in Literature IV class.
Heard what happened after the class ended, since the classroom was right next to the offices and they had the radio on. Second period was Physics. That's when we heard the news about the attacks and ran to the library to watch the 2nd plane hit. People were panicing. They let us home after 4th period. I found out that my 1st cousin was helping them in NYC medically (she's a registered nurse). Was at home watching the West Wing on TV. Was about 11pm at night and I was half asleep. Suddenly saw the plane crash into the tower and thought to myself, "how does that fit in with the story line?". Took me a few second to realise it had cut to the news....

I woke up to go to school (7th grade) and my dad watching the news and at that time thinking it was just an accident. Later at school the teacher brought in the TV for us to watch the news.
When I heard about it I was heading to bed, when my mom told me to come and watch what was going on for a bit on TV first >_>
I was in school at the time (i think elementary). the teachers didn't say anything to us about it so we didn't worry i assume and i found out as soon as i got home that day
World Cultrues class, freshman year HS.
Another teacher came into the class, pulled our teacher into the hallway. I guess to explain what happened. My teacher walked back in and said a plane ran into the first tower. Rest of the day unfolded per usual, except for the announcements over the loud speaker as the towers fell. My school has a graduating class of over 1000 kids per year and that day was the quietest day in my 4 years there. Seventh grade, math class.
My teachers husband called her on her cell phone and she started to cry. I remember thinking she lost a family member or something and felt sorry for her. Then on the loud speaker they announced what had happened and i also remember so much traffic. I didnt want to ride the bus home so i just walked. iirc I was home from high school with a flu or something. All I remember I was home sick lol.
I was in college in Hawaii. I woke up about 6 AM and saw my g/f sitting on the couch clutching her phone crying. I looked at the tv and said, wow what movie is this, the special effects look lame. The silence made me rethink my comment, and I realized that it was not a movie. All my profesors that morning didn't watch the news so they went on like it was a normal day. I was worried that my uncles may have been working in Manhattan that morning, so that bugged me all day. The following next days all our profesors apologized, saying they had no idea what had happened and would have cancelled class or made sure everyone was ok.
Was a while until I got used to low flying aircraft over downtown Honolulu. |
