hey there everyone just trying to figure out what the defense range for some mobs is an if possible their vit values (trying to maximize my torcleaver build, even eyeballing is appreciated supplied its done reasonably.

Guess in short im asking what values do you consider yourself capped attack against say Dragua/Kirin/etc example of mobs so on an so forth

Kirin has ~600 defense iirc, no idea on VIT. Factoring in Dia II, you'd need ~1200 attack (add it up by hand since it'll exceed the display cap). Dragua has at least as much defense, if not more, and I'd guess 110+ VIT (Bukhis is estimated to have that much VIT, Dragua is obviously higher level so likely has a higher VIT).

Can you actually go over 999? I tried back at 75 cap by spamming boost, dunno if they ever changed it.

You can, but the display will still read 999. PS2 limitations etc

I'd assume that you can exceed 999 defense, but unless the mob pDIF formulas are vastly different from our own it's impossible to bring damage to 0 on all hits with defense alone unless there's a significant amount of positive level correction also involved, ie fighting EP- mobs with Signet/Sigil active. Otherwise you'd get a bit more than half of them down to 0 at best and it's similar to MDB but instead of MAB/MDB you have attack/defense.

EDIT: Even then, only works for your autoattack target.

yes u can and i brought this up with dragua as the footnote cus when i was only around 800attack my tor wasnt breaking 1k reliably but when i went to 1100-1200ish it went up tp 1900-2200 (got the attack estimate from putting up LR an rcb then subtracting attack pieces til i saw it move from 999->996 and then added it up)

so any idea on level correction for dragua/bukhis? probably hard to say since they dont give xp based on level right?

Edited in: not the best way to check what your attack is but only way i could do it quickly at that point

ok then i have a question on the magic side of this involving elemental DOTs yea i know they suck but the question stands do they raise the amount of stat reduce cause this might make DD very happy by increasing there WS damage.(never checked i know there damage has tiers)
When i play BLM i alwasy get crap for using them but it mobs are have that much VIT or other stats landing these could really help

Can easily test that in PVP ska, get a sch/blm vs a blm/sch and make sure the blm has his ele skill capped and such as well as the sch. see if their matching debuffs give more of a debuff with say higher int or something

yea but i am really lazy when it comes to testing stuff cause that would mean i would have to get out all my blm gear. would take an hour just to cast 2 spells most of it from getting all that stuff out and putting it back in there haha ohwell i guess i can here in a day or two

If you're referring to choke and burn and whatnot, those were already tested to give higher DOT and -stats based on INT.

Well i know that they give higher DoT but do they reduce the stat more?
like Choke lowers targets VIT by X amount now doen X change values or remain constant with higher int cause i dont think skill have anything to do with these spells besides Macc

Yes, they reduce the stats more. 150+ INT gives 5/tick dot and -13 stats.

Seriously, this many people thought the physical limitation of Attack was 999? It wasn't even that hard to reach it at 75. If attack capped at 999, Tachi: Gekko would never have been as effective as it was. The same goes for Spinning Slash.

I thought the advantage of Spinning Slash (and/or Ground Strike) was the modified cratio; which isn't an attack bonus exactly, right? As for gekko's damage bonus, I assumed it just functioned as a way for players to more easily reach 999.

so is there an official cap for it?

cRatio is the Correction off Level right? That actually works fundamentally the same as an Attack, Defense or Evasion bonus, just indirectly.

I'm also thinking of situations like AV, where at 999 Attack, Gekko still outperforms Fudo, which if the physical cap was 999, shouldn't happen. (85cap)

That makes sense actually. I'm a little new to giving a damn about the numbers; when I read into why DRKs always used to use spinning slash was when I found out about cratio and dmg calculation. It tickled me to find out the why for the what =x

This thread is Luls

also i zerged AV and i was not even capping attack on him at over 1605 attack Though i was close because Torcleaver outperformed Spinning slash and i did both 3 times (Torcleavers doing 1.4K~ and spinning doing about 600-800)

This also could be an Fstr thing because i could not find AVs VIT ANYWHERE to do calculations with..

But this is the attack math :X

(8+354+16+5+(99+36*.75)+70+60+62((81+66)*2))= 970+50% (Last resort + Berserk) = 1455+150(Red Curry bun)= 1605 + Warcry in there somewhere from a 90war in the party
