Great stuff, thanks.

Scragg: I have an interest in using the Twitter API to create a Twitter account that tweets these shouts. Is that something you're okay with? (I'll talk to Stan too)

[EDIT] Got the okay from Stan

I think this is a great idea.... except for Ragnarok (where 95% of jeuno shouts will rot your brain, since the merger).

Infinite +s for Scragg's posts would not be enough to make justice for all what he have done for this community.

Few years ago if someone told me it would be possible to see what is being shout in Jeuno from work and without the game client running, I would not believe.

NEAT stuff...

This *had* convinced me to get Guildwork Premium then I noticed it wanted my card details and had no Paypal link. Sorry but there is no way I'm trusting my card details to such a small business.

Guildwork never sees your credit card.

All payments are handled by Stripe.com which is a startup funded by the founders of PayPal.

Agreed on the whole Click n' Buy crap.

I'll try Stripe, thanks Stanislav, I should have read further you have my apologies.

I made myself a quick local Chrome Extension that uses DOMNodeInserted to capture all new shouts added to #shout-wrapper (when I have ffxiah.com/shouts open in a tab) and then displays HTML5 Desktop Notifications for each new shout.

Are the any plans to support HTML5 Notifications natively on the shouts page via a check box option or something? It's a pretty sweet thing to have.

Nice job on shouts by the way, it's an idea I always wanted to see implemented after missing Jeuno shouts when out doing Trials, sitting in Jeuno was not something I wanted to do. It's really slick you made it text, and included links off to ffxiah content too. The style is very nice too, you did a good job of replicating the styling of the in-game chat log :)

Am I the only one that is a little unsettled that GW client is gathering text from users and sending it to a server to be archived? Sure I think Stanislav is trustworthy and it requires trust to use the client, but having the client take my in game text and send it to someone else is kinda sketch to me.

I love the idea of being able to see archived shouts, just not the way the information is being gathered :(
it's not storing your personal info, nor your content ID or anything like that. just shout info which...anyone can read if they are in jeuno. if you didn't want what ever you are shouting/yelling known in jeuno...or read from where ever...then why shout it?

maybe they're concerned about the possibility of reading personal /tells.

It'd kinda suck if you're skipping a ls event and are faux afk or something....or talking about somebody behind their back.
Or people are just too shy about their cybering.

Nothing to be shy about, be proud!

Those of you who are using Google Chrome and have the Stylish extension (Firefox has a similar system) may find my Cleaner Shouts style useful. It will remove all* of the FFXIAH interface and leave you with a very minimal shouts page that can be useful if you need to resize the window to view it alongside your game window.

Preview:

* I've not removed the legal text, footer links or guildwork references as they're important to FFXIAH as a website.

I don't know about all the other server shouts, but the Valefor one definitely is lagging behind seriously, By like 20 minutes.

It may not be "lagging", you have to consider the fact that it requires people to be using the Guildwork client in that area, if noone is in that area with it open then it wont show anything. Happened earlier on siren for like 40 minutes.

Hooray for the new source of 24/7 JP text, 15-yr-olds arguing, and people you really would rather not team up with.

I just changed the code a little where instead of inserting duplicates (like the game does), it instead bumps them to the top =)

Here is an example of the Guildwork version.

http://guildwork.com/games/ffxi/shouts?filter=worm+party+AND+server:cerberus

You can also see shouts in real-time (if logged in) here:

http://guildwork.com/games/ffxi/shouts

Still in progress.

Just to use the Guildwork Client, the website itself is a community site just like any other, only cooler. I don't use the client myself because I can't find a way to turn off the display of events.

Seeing as how this relies on the Guildwork Client to run smoothly are you going to add new features to the Client to make it more attractive for people to use? The ability to turn of the calendar in-game, log-in via Open ID (on the client), and manually upload XML to our profiles would be a start.

11 cents a day! Are you nuts. Do you KNOW what I could be buying with that!

I missed the ffah querry on gwclient, but with stuff like ffxi pricer, i've moved on. Maybe when I get my ipad 2 this will be worth looking into again.

Nice work tho!
