Well I'm glad to see Cowboy Bebop was posted a few times. I'll make a fourth and post the best Adult Swim promo ever aired with the song "Rush". Can't get enough of it. Makes getting to work on-time when I'm running late more epic haha.
Somehow missed seeing this thread! Spoiler'd youtube links for great justice.
Kokia - Chouwa Oto
The opening to a film rather than a series, but still phenomenal. Not a half bad film either, Gin iro no Kami no Agito (or, I think, Origin: Spirits of the past is a european/french title?). HQ and turn volume right up for real vocal powah.
Joe Hisaishi - Sheeta's Decision {Shiita no Ketsui, Castle in the Sky)
All of you must know this song/film. If you don't, close browser now and go watch.
Childhood cartoon. First animé I ever saw and the only one ive ever truly loved. Was watching it when I was 2 years old until now :) Got my nieces hooked on it too.
the saga continues...
(Really good music in it imo. Wouldn't exactly rock out to the intro song... but I have and probably will again!)
Haha, man i remember growing up with this as-well. Wish they made children's shows like that this day and age. Instead of all the stupid crap they pump out now. Heh.
More. I noticed first DBZ opening was posted so I had to post this first one.
Honestly if it werent for DBZ and Sailor Moon I wouldnt have gotten into anime.
I figured that since there's a regular music thread and a videogame music thread, I should make one for anime/visual novels! So, FFXIAH, what are your favorite anime/VN songs? I'll start with a few popular ones:
If any of you have seen Clannad, you will know why this song is so powerful. Never before have I been emotionally gripped by a single song, I tear up while listening to it sometimes ;_;
But they're manly tears!
No thread on anime music would be complete without mentioning "Lilium" from Elfen Lied. This is definitely my favorite OP of any show I've seen and probably one of the most famous, but sadly I couldn't upload the actual opening (I'm sure you know why).
There is no Umineko anime.
Now that that's out of the way, I introduce Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When the Seagulls Cry), a murder mystery visual novel series. Whether or not you like crime stories, one of the things that is almost universally respected by its readers is the music. Oh god.
I would go as far as to say it surpasses Final Fantasy music at some points. It has multiple composers, and a wide range of music from just plain kickass (Dread of the Grave) to downright horrifying (Mirage Coordinator, ridicule, system0). Definitely one of the high points of the series.
