Chief of staff isn't a military rank, they are in our chain of command but it isn't an achievable military rank. The only thing that is reserved for wartime only is a 5 star general (Rank higher then General) which has command over all branches of the military.

Interesting, looked it up because I never really thought about it, but I've always heard that it was the US Army but I think a closer comparison for the United States would be the US Marine Corps. I thought it might be some military ranks in North/South Korea but they have fewer ranks in all, although their rank "power" are equivalent to our branches of service. I actually think it is closest to the Imperial Japanese Military, and since it's Japanese then it would make the most sense over them choosing a US branch of service. I will list the Imperial Japanese Military below the US one. I'm pretty sure the key word is in fact Imperial, for instance a quick search of the word Imperial would reveal many items with Imperial in it, including ToAU's own currency and two of the missions in the story line.


A quick note about Private Second Class. It basically is just the rank Private (kind of obvious) but I found a note in the Korean Military section in wiki:


Also, I could not find anything about Superior Private, but in Army ranks of the Japanese Empire during World War II I found Senior Private above Private 1st Class, which would explain why this has nothing to do with the US branch of services.

Also, Chief Sergeant would be closest to our Sergeant Major of the Army/Marine Corps.

And of course the Serpent General would be our own General.

Here is a nice table I worked hard on comparing the United States Army vs the United States Marine Corps, I'll include a table of the Imperial Japanese Military, which I think is the correct military service that Treasures of Aht Urhgan's Mercenary Ranks were originated from. Ranks that are Bolded are matching ranks of FFXI's Mercenary Ranks.


Overall the United States Marine Corps has one more similarity over the United States Army, but here is the Imperial Japanese Military:

Note: The same as before Private would be Private Second Class, read up to know why.

The same as before, Senior Private would be Superior Private I believe, again read above to know why.

The acting ranks have no insignia, so I don't know about them really.

Also when it says for example just Lieutenant, the game just uses First Lieutenant in this case.

Chief Sergeant is the only rank I have no clue what to think, even google mainly lists FFXI links.


The only thing really isn't listed, as I said before, is Chief Sergeant. This might be something they pulled from, a unlikely guess but, the United States branches of service which would be "Command Sergeant Major" in the United States Army, or even the higher rank "Sergeant Major of the Army/Marine Corps". This would make it the Chief Sergeant Major in the game basically.

Naja Salaheem would be what, the Chief of staff? Or something similar because she is the president of Salaheem's Sentinels. I'm not sure what the Japanese equivalent would be in the military... Minister of Defense?

i'm surprised no one has said it yet... Relic +2 and Nyzul gear trial items will probably be in this new Nyzul.

Alexandrite drop chances don't sound that outlandish to me. You can get massive amounts of coins now soloin Dynamis and relics will start popping up everywhere. Afterall, Relic AND Mythic weapon acquisition was something discussed in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if Mythic is next in line to show up everywhere.

If they were going to do it nyzul would be the place it would happen since its sort of separated from the rest, kinda.

They'd also have to fix captain rank showing up anywhere before they made a bunch of new titles :o

From the looks of it, they're taking all the 75 content, and Scaling it to level 99 content.

What other game did Level Scaling and it totally didn't get pounded into the dirt over it?

Really, at the end of the day I have to ask myself what the point of them even raising the cap was, couldn't they have just kept it 75 and added new gear/abilities/spells and had the same effect?

I fail to see how any of that required a level cap update though. And you can blind yourself with the word "New" all you want, I don't see how anything is "New" When it's the same ***with a different level range in mind. It's not like they're saying "We're adding a totally new area with totally new challenges", they're just adjusting existing content at worst, and at best using existing content as a springboard to "Easy updates".

Whatever, Nyzul is fun.

Nyzul was fun as long as you didn't have a total collapse of communications. That's why I never did it with pick-ups.

I swear, the hardest concept for some people to grasp was that when you select "Yes" on the lamp, it means you activated it.

The second hardest concept was typing a backslash so everyone else knew you did.

That's my first thought as well. More Abyssea outside of Abyssea.

Team speak, fill mode, and other useful tools can do 10-20 floors a tag. ***was fast.
