has anyone captured a magickarp? spent quite a bit of time at the cerulean gym with the old rod and have not seen one red fish yet.

I've seen a ton but I keep *** killing them in one hit >=| I want a Gyrados

ok i caught a bunch. seems my first old rod was glitched. somehow all of my challenge mode levels were unlocked the first time. if one of your pokemon knows dragon rage then it's easy to catch, put in the middle and set it to target the fastest pokemons. now to get a shiny one.

Any tips for Vermillion City?

Been using my primape Focus Energy + Rage. Seismic Toss (Assurance for Alakazam and Jynx)

Usually make it to around Wave 13 or so.

I think I had the four spots by the candy surrounded, and two on the bottom with slow moves. Charizard and Venusaur had Solarbeam.

Oh, I was thinking gym. That one sucks. What I did was I basically used Alakazham to Psychic everything unless it had a resistance, or if a super effective move was better I'd switch it out for that. Had Bite on Blastoise for Jynx/Alakazham. Used Flamethrower for Magnemite, and Thunderbolt for Blastoise.

I got mine on route 5. They're all really weak though. You need to plan for them to die easily. :(

Well that game was fun till I left it on for the night came back and it had crashed and lost 25 lvl's on everything :(
I feel ya, same thing happened to me. Just beat Lavender Town and spammed Route 8 for a good 2~3 hours. Went back and saved and closed out the page, came back today and it said I was back at Lavender Town. T-T

I catch mines using 2 gyarados with dragon rage spam on the fastest pokemons. if both of them hits it then it should just go in the red and then just catch quick and dont let your other pokemon squash it.

For anyone who downloaded the game instead of playing on the blog, do you get more screen space? Celadon is killing me cause I can't see all of the map at once and Celebi is turning it into rapefest before I can withdraw them.

Have to learn cut (TM move) then go to Route 2 and place the pokemon with cut next to the oddly placed shrub (to the right of the npc's pokemon). Finish the battle then go through the dialogue normally, don't skip. After that you'll have to teach it to a pokemon via (TM/HM moves). I personally used Beedrill for both Cut and Flash.

^^ The tunnel is looooong.

For that fight I just had like 3 fire types ready for use, and just kept searching the entire zone with Charizard being dragged around(to pause it). Whenever something was coming I'd drag Charizard to the nearest spot and quickly drag the other fire-types over to the wave, then when wave was over, withdrawl them(so I wouldn't move on and forget and have them die by sneaky Celebi). Towards the end you might want to have a pokemon with helping hand to buff the fire-types for the Venasaurs.

Thank you! I'm getting raped by that level too for the same reasons. :|

Finally beat Cerulean Gym 1 a few minutes ago.

27 Wartortle
29 Pikachu
25 Mankey
26 Beedrill
~21 Beedrill

Two Beedrills up top using string shot. Pikachu in the middle with Thunderbolt. Mankey in the bottom right using Assurance. Wartortle in the bottom left using Bite.

I'm stuck on this one too. You are so overleveled lol

My highest pokemon right now is 23 and I've grinded a whole lot.

Is there some secret to grinding?
I spent a bit of time grinding out levels while I was playing FFXI and doing some work on my laptop. The biggest thing is Mankey's Assurance, and pikachu's thunderbolt. I tried it with... I can't remember the name of it, and it was barely not good enough. Whatever the electric move you learn before it.
