Has anyone ever gotten their ebisu without ever getting their lu shang?
Just curious.
Plenty of people
I once was looking for buyers and someone sent me a tell asking if I could fish gugs over the next week so he could buy them. Turns out he picked up opal silk from mog bonanza and has level 20 fishing. So the week is over and he starts buying my fish...
first fish, I swear to you he got shoot on his first fish.
1/0 and 1/1... Only way to get better than that is to win ebisu in mog bonanza.
I was left with a ton of gug's that I had to send to my mule to sell over the course of a few weeks, I was pissed! Happy for the guy but pissed lol.

I'm sure plenty of people have; I'm only 5,000/10,000 on moats and I'm well on my way to getting my Ebisu. I've always believed Ebisu is "easier" to get than a Lu (via the Lu quest). Assuming you don't have crappy luck with Ebisu trades that is.
I have 3 lu shang rods to fish up lik and since im close to if not over 0/3000+ this sucks. I have waisted over 20 mil buying and fishing these things. Did they add new fish due to the level cap update??

Oh for sure it's easier, no question.
Well, maybe I should state it's "easier" if you calculate it as time = difficulty.

I personally was thinking what the average would be for all players who obtain ebisu, where would that line be and how would that compare to the difficulty of lu shang (if you never buy a single fish).
Considering the investment put in, the average rate people get opal and shoot, the amount of fish you put towards your catch count of the day I say lu wins for being more difficult.

This.
Edit: SE raised level cap 12 hours after I hit 100. Thx guys <_<

I would definitely say that Lu is more difficult and can be more time consuming. You can easily find people who will sell you gugs and liks on any given server, assuming you have the gil to pay it, but moats are generally either bought up or none in stock.
Of course you have the people who are just super lucky with ebisu items, which I scowl at, and on the other end you have people that are still 0/3000+.
Happy to be 1/17 liks, 1/253 gugs for main and 1/96 liks, 1/252 gugs on mule(level 70, 68k gp).
I only made it to 100.8 on 80ish pisces x2 pelican rings before I got sucked into vwipenms :\ - also fatigue seemed like it was kicking in around 70ish fish... maybe just me

I seemed to hit a mini-fatigue around 60 pisces last night. Didn't hook anything for about 20 casts. I kept at it because I knew I'd only been fishing for a short time. It passed but I kept getting spats of 10-15 no-catches.

There are fishing topics that come up now and then but mainly are asking a question for a single answer. I know there are many fishers that visit these forums so this is an attempt to get people involved and have a little fun discussing one and only one thing, fishing!
The emotions of fishing.
I know Blue Gartr has a Fishing topic already, but I would like to see this community get involved a little bit and talk, since not everyone visits BG. I would love to have a topic just for fishers including veteran fishers, casual fishers, and even players just starting out and want to ask a few questions without being embarrassed about starting a whole topic for a simple answer they could not find.
I only ask that you keep any bot talk to a minimum, preferably none.[Moderator edit: No bot talk] I want this to be a place where we can discuss anything from GP items of the day to what lure/bait to use or what area is best. A quick mention of how you're doing on the lu shang/ebisu quest, how you're doing getting your fishing items from Grounds of Valor, that item you're saving your GP up for, or how much you wish you could hurt Zaldon for not finding anything in your fish for the 10,000th time. Your lucky moment streaks and the moments when you have nothing come your way and question why you started fishing in the first place. Anything that comes to mind, think of it as the random thoughts thread for fishing.
I will list a few resources that I find to be useful when it comes to fishing:
BG Fishing Topic Great Blue (Amazing Site <3, is out dated since 2008 but an amazing resource regardless) Final Fishing (Another great resource with one of the most in-depth guides made. Out of date though.)
Fish Size Chart [GE][Wikia] Chenon Diary (The site seems to be down for good though, it was a site made for Fish Ranking)
I shall add more if people provide good resources.
