Looks like I'll be throwing my Matsya at Zaldon's face for the dozenth time. Maybe this time he'll gut one. 15 fps is a little low eh??? i guess all they could manage was to cut it in half. 17 or 18 works so much better. Thanks SE but i wish you hadn't bothered.

Wowwww, the fishing graphics look like absolute garbage now.

For those interested in trying for Matsya now, here are a few pointers:
Go to the east bridges in Vunkerl Inlet. At least according to wiki, these are the only bridges that you can catch Matsya at. Even if it isn't true, I'd rather not risk losing bait at the other bridges trying to confirm/deny this detail. Fish up all items that get stuck on your hook (there will probably be a lot of them!). This will save you some precious ex bait. Note: Arrowwood Log will trigger the "big catch" song, so don't be fooled into thinking it's a monster on your line and cancel it. You're going to lose some bait to jellyfish and monsters. Nothing much you can do about that. Gear-wise, noddy and puffin ring setup is recommended. No need for albatross/penguin/etc. rings now. Everything else, stack on the skill+ gear, and consider getting advanced support/using the fisherman's belt for skill support. These guys are going to snap your lines pretty frequently.

When I factored in all the time trading Cave Cherax for bait, time required for fishing matsya, and then value of selling successfully caught matsya, I would have made more money NPCing all cave cherax for their full value (which only came out to about 30-35k an hour). I'm fishing up Cherax right now to gut to help uncover the mystery of the Matsaya item! I sent my mule to Zitah to look for Aurora. So far just dark bass and crystal bass. I'll be moving into Romaeave shortly.
I forgot how lousy of a bite rate Cherax have.. sheesh 12 no catches in a row. cant believe u didnt immediately move to the moon pool or whatever when i suggested it XD
Out of the 40 leftover ex bait I had, I caught 4 out of the 15 Matsya bites; the rest (11) were line snaps. I wasn't using fishing support.
My previous session from years ago was 117 ex bait, 21 catches, and 35 line snaps. This was during full moon with support, but I was using albatross/penguin ring combo. 0/24 now. Oh well! I was going too, but the pretty purple water in zitah caught my eye.. figured it was on the wya so why not XD
Already been to Lathiene A, Mis A, Lufaise, Mis. Now Zitah is off the list. Moving into Romaeave. Yeah, I was just going to see how tough they would be to fish up before getting advanced support. Once I saw how easy it was, I just threw caution to the wind and decided to stay. I was impatient :x I could have at least used my Fisherman's Belt for basic support. As for the Aurora Bass, it may be at least worth considering that it's found in the small pond, whether or not it depends on the weather. Fisherman's belt effect differs from Advanced support from taru in Windurst? Legit question. I like to have it on as much as possible. I do not mind going for GP but I would quit bothering with belt if taru's effect were +3 fishing skill or more.
60 no catches in a row with various baits and lures in Romaeve.
