Also the whole invasion and projected dream then being thrust unto the real world to fight his father that has become some sort of mythical religious Godzilla just does't sit well with me.
It seems the whole initial setting is ignored for something hazy and vague.

The city that never sleeps. This phrase is mentioned twice (predominantly). The first time it is simply a description. The second time... it has this playing in the background - it takes on a whole new eerie/sinister meaning when you consider what it really is, and its inhabitants really are. Japanese Tidus is kinda different from English Tidus :X

I last played 10 when I was 13 or 14 (10+ years ago), so my perspective might have been tainted by being a naive teenager. I promise to give it another go, but I can't say it'll change my perspective to how ridiculous and inconceivable the whole thing sounds. Things like that almost make something like Evangelion make sense. Anyways, time for work. Was fun discussing new vs. old with y'all. It's cool, there's a lot to remember :P I've just played it through so many times and adored the storyline so much. I have a very potent memory too.
I've been bouncing around so many FFs lately. Finished VIII and IX not too long ago, then X, then X-2, then XII, now on III.
Stories can get a little mixed up atm. Shid before XIII-2 we should both replay XIII.
It'll be just like last time. You - "I shouldn't have fought this. Sam what ever you do, don't run at the big thing." *1 hour later* Me - "You were right, I shouldn't have fought this." Something about being stomped for 10k just says "No....n...no...."
