I'm having issues today with wardrobes 5-8 not showing up ingame. I tried to launch vanilla pol and I checked my square management account and wardrobes 1-8 are up to date but is still not showing up.

Any ideas?

Edit: Did a filecheck and it fixed my issue. Can disregard.

Are the menus just not there at all or are they there but greyed out? Have you done any .dat swaps recently?

The only time I've had menus not exist that were supposed to is when I swapped in an out of date modded dat file after an update that added a new menu

I tried to use old xiview icons for the bard icons. Something broke, wardrobes 5-8 were completely missing from ingame. Gear in said wardrobes would not equip.

Thought it was an issue with windower so I booted pol vanilla, same issue.

Did a checkfile and that fixed it.

Anyone ever do Apex Idle Drifters/Wanderers in the Promies for JP grind?

I went back on WAR the other day now that I have half way decent gear, and could get exp chains on them.

Once you've got the accuracy, they're still pretty beefy, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience about partying there.

I like to go there when I'm just playing by myself with my alts. With food and just Blade Madrigal, I usually don't have any issues hitting them anymore. I make sure to always Dia II or III on them and if you can SC, they go down very fast. I like to go to Promyvian-Mea and just go to the right of the entrance. It's like the perfect balance of having enough to keep the chain without getting overwhelmed.

I did a bunch of MLs against them, you don't have to fight vs bots with them as much anymore and there are a few out of the way camps where you won't see anyone. It's a far cry from Bibiki Bay and Bhaflau, which I rarely ever did because they were so occupied.

I never had luck with them using trusts, the damage wasn't there and the trusts would die, so we were always there with a party. IIRC, they can hit pretty hard but die quickly to SC damage if you are on a decently geared DD job. I think they have some rotating elemental weakness mechanic based on their color, so doing dark against one will be weak but strong against another, but even in that case the damage from WS should kill them reasonably fast. I'm not sure if that mechanic applies to the apex mobs but I vaguely remember seeing damage fluctuate, it has been a while.

The problem eventually becomes having enough of them to fight esp in a good group, which will slow you down compared to other camps. Some of the camp spots can be pretty dangerous, too, and you risk aggroing others if you aren't careful. Not an issue with JP, but the EP starts to slow down because you kill them so quickly that you stand around waiting for spawns and the EP return slows down compared to camps where you can keep chains and kills going.

I enjoyed them more for EP because they didn't just absolutely melt and doing long SCs on some jobs against them was fun, but I don't think it is as efficient once you reach a certain point.

So..... If any enemy has zero MAB adding MBD does nothing?

Edit; Apparently what I was looking at is a "special attack" not "magic".... But is still reduced by MDT/Meva and BDT/MDB do nothing. Assbackwards game.

It's MAB/MDB, and both have a base of 1.0/100. I'm not aware of any cap or penalty for having more MDB than mob's MAB. It shouldn't matter how much MAB a monster has, either.

(mob with 0 mab)
1.00 / 1.00 = 1x multiplier
1.00 / 1.5(50 mdb) = .667x multiplier (1/3 damage reduction)
1.00 / 2(100 mdb) = 0.5x multiplier (1/2 damage reduction)

(mob with 50 mab)
1.50 / 1.00 = 1.5x multiplier
1.50 / 1.5(50 mdb) = 1x multiplier (1/3 damage reduction)
1.5 / 2(100 mdb) = 0.75x multiplier (1/2 damage reduction)

That's correct. MAB and MDB are always presented together in the damage formula which can give the impression that there's some relation between them, but there isn't.

For example BG gives the formula as:
Quote:
Damage Dealt = D × MTDR × Staff × Affinity × Resist × Resistance Rank Reduction × MB × MBB × Day & Weather × MAB/MDB × TMDA × Potency Multipliers

But you can rewrite it like this to make it more clear that they're independent of each other:
Quote:
Damage Dealt = (D × MTDR × Staff × Affinity × Resist × Resistance Rank Reduction × MB × MBB × Day & Weather × MAB × TMDA × Potency Multipliers) / MDB

Those 2 formulas are effectively the same.

Is there a list for which WS are safe to use on which bosses in Sortie to avoid accidental SC? Specifically for RDM and COR (swords, club, and marksmanship). I was yelled at for using Seraph Blade on E today which I thought was safe? I dont know why I was warned to stop using it to be honest for E boss.

Thanks!

Probably should just ask the group why? No idea what combination of WS your group was using

Fair point. Everyone else was using Savage Blade spam to the point that physical sword WS was barely doing and damage and I'm pretty sure there was no chance of accidentally messing it up with seraph blade since it doesn't chain with SB so I really dont know why I got some heat for it.

Likely just didn't know it didn't sc without having to look it up and overreacted

There's too many ws to remember every possible combo

(These are things the event coordinator should address and know beforehand but doesn't usually)

Ehh, for level 2 and level 3 SCs it's pretty easy to memorize.

It's those pesky level 1s that have so many combos that you gotta watch out for.

I personally never learned WS properties and Skillchains very well, besides the ones for jobs I solo on (NIN, BLU, SAM etc). If you were to say "don't use any fragmentation property WSs", I would have no idea what you were talking about without looking it up. Eiryl's probably right. If everyone else in the group was using Savage Blade, it's safe to assume they just instituted a blanket rule to ONLY use that and freaked out when they saw something else, cuz they weren't sure if it would SC with Savage.

Wouldnt everyone using Savage Blade on E boss be counter productive due to WS wall?

Maze stated as much. The group didn't explain it to him though so guessing it was an amateur group who is repeating what someone told them and haven't a clue about the actual mechanics at play.

You can Pianissimo multiple songs onto an individual member, right? Like I know it requires Pianissimo used each time, but you can give an individual all 3 ballads if you want to, that way, right?

Is there any way to change the order of your characters? I created a new one on a brand-new content ID to play with some friends on a new server, and they appeared at the very top of my list for some reason, and it's driving me up the wall.

I tried rearranging the content IDs in PlayOnline, I tried unlinking and relinking them in a new order.

Yeah, the BRD I play with was testing it, if you have other songs on before trying to give the ballads you'll end up just getting one ballad as they have the shortest duration. Otherwise fresh no songs you can give them 3 ballads. Please correct me if I am wrong

Nope. Typically means you'd previously had characters before your main and deleted them. You could keep creating characters until the new one appears after your main then delete the rest if you're not invested in the new one yet.

This is correct for most typical gear setups. But, the key thing is to remember that the song with the least remaining duration always gets overwritten, so things like night/troub melee songs will make it difficult to get 3 other songs up. Fully geared BRD tends to have slightly shorter ballads due to Fili Rhingrave[+X] giving less duration than Inyanga Shalwar+2, so a freshly cast melee song will often have 20+ seconds advantage making immediate ballads difficult.

Just to add onto what Thorny said, you can resing any long songs in no duration gear to shorten them, and then sing ballads overtop to overwrite songs. This applies for any song. So if you accidentally sang a Madrigal when you needed an etude instead for example, you could resing the same madrigal in no duration/potency+ gear to shorten the song, then sing your new song in full duration/potency+ to overwrite it as it will now be the shortest duration song.

i have 2 questions on monster rearing

currently, i give food to my 4 monsters each day
but they are full now
what is going to happen if i stop doing this ?
i'm afraid of "succumbing to darkness" state, which will put my garden in a stop.
how do i prevent this ?

also, on this page
Quote:
If you're only doing this for mog gardens/monster rearring make sure you talk to the NPC again and return the writ or you will be put in belligerency state in a bunch of zones and it's annoying.
there is a reference that implies monster rearing and monstrosity are connected
i don't understand this reference

I don't think you can. Untouched eventually they'll all turn angry. Except behemoths maybe, they enjoy being left alone. It takes a while to turn to darkness, like 10+ days.

You can make it go away just by spending a star, it's not a big deal. Or you can just let them go if you're done.

The thing you don't understand is something you shouldn't really have to worry about

I'm pretty sure you only need to keep your primary monster(the one you can see) happy. Checking in on it once a week is sufficient. As stated, it's easily remedied by interacting with the monster and selecting the option to have the moogle clear status for 1 star.

The status doesn't consume your daily gardening, just blocks you from doing it while the status is active. Once cleared, you can access the pond, net, ect just as you normally would.

Try this

The creature's maturity and mood will remain constant unless the player feeds or interacts with it. This will also prevent a monster from evolving naturally over time

I remember all of these questions being asked in the other thread for the Peach Princess BC, but I don't remember ever seeing clear answers.

1) does Despoil work for Impish box?

2) Can aura steal conflict with steal to get Impish box? I.e. if Blaze Spikes are up, are there chances those will be stolen instead of the box?

Thanks!
